Looks like he slid off the side. No sign of avalanche. Acually there is very little snow there.Bummer. It could be pulled out with some creative off road winching. I sold my comp crawler, otherwise I'd help. If someone needs me to ask around I can. I still know lots of people who can help. Time is of the essance though. Much more snow and it'll be really stuck. It will need to move under its own power to be winched up. Ive seen worse stucks.

Are we sure it"s not just broke down.

maybe. but believe it or not that spot is a lot steeper than the pix show. i highly doubt they'd try to drive it in there. there only about 1/6 the way down to a not so friendly hole for a groomer. i'm guessing there was some serious under pants damage:eek: snow was pretty shallow up at the top, and it took a good pull to come out so that you'd fly over rather than dig into the rocks. we hit a lot of them!

just run a winch line from another cat tied to some of that old growth, and maybe just try to have the cat build a road out
there are cats with big D8 winches and recovery booms that would be perfect to get that out, long as it aint broke!!!

I think that groomer is owned by the forest service. I've met the operator and he works full time for them. He offered to take me with him while grooming. I might have to re-think that offer. He's lucky he didn't start an avy and get buried by it?

Thats pretty steep but its a short pull, I think it could be winched out as long as it starts so it can go up the hill under power.

i think you would have to get another groomer above him to pull with, and a very talented driver in the stuck one. i would try Don May, the groomer next to cascade playtime to see if he has any input there.

if there is enough snow just build a spot to sit on and then start working on a road out, there is a spot to sit at the bottom if you cant make one where your at,,, and you can start your road from there!!!

Wow... that groomer sure has a great view while it waits, lol.

That stretch blasted into the side of the hill has always scared the crap outta me. I remember running dogs up there a few years ago from the pass to see debris from a small, maybe 9" deep slab avalanche over the road.... pretty sobering to see how deep the pile was from such a shallow slide.

Anyone have a spare D8 that they can use:)---Just as soon as the Washington parks and the USFS can give a OKAY for anyone to help get the unit out:eek:

I will bet they leave it there for the season--Otherwise if they had any smarts they would be doing something to get it out ASAP before it will not come out and end up buried:o The state will take way to long to figure it out--they will save money by not having to groom:mad:.
