Let's hear some input on Glacier House

Man have you seen the higher elevation snow report for this week - man that's alot of snow - no matter how bad the place you stay is with that much snow you''l be happy!!!!:D:D

I would recommend the Peaks Lodge

The lcoation is decent right on hwy 1 west of revelstoke a bit. The new owner's are a Awesome younger couple that are itnerested in you being happy and returning(to spend more moneyy). The food is good(finally got a chef in there so the restruant/pub is open). Vaughn (sp) is a great chef good breakfast and dinner's. I believe this is a year, for them to figure out what works and what doesn't but having been to revelstoke twice this year and headed back once more, I would say these guys do it very well. If you are nice Vaughn may take you for the special ride from about 11am to 2:30pm. Thanks to Peaks for two great trips so far this year hope to see you in April if the snow holds. P.S. the Glacier house is rumored to be for sale?? so I am sure this along with Alex's unfortunately poor attitude I am no longer a fan of the GH. The staff is ok and the lcoation is the best but I would much prefer the Peaks Lodge to GH anyday of the week.

The first nite there was fine. They were under-staffed at the bar but they managed to do the best they could while maintaining a smile. Next morning I was told by the owner that we should be more prompt at arrival to the bar. WTF? I had initially told them 28 of us would be there between 630 and 7. We got there at 730. Chit we were on vacation and if I wanted to sit in the chair and unwind a bit before heading for supper that is exactly what I was going to do. Blame us for being understaffed? Things cleared up the next morning when the same person serving us supper was waiting on us for breakfast. Everything went downhill from there. Many things to be left alone, but all I can say is if you are to stay there be cautious and aware of everything that goes on. It may bite you in the end. $1500-$1700 worth.

Actually went to Zala's in town one night, even though we had prepaid all of our meals, and enjoyed fantastic food, good service, and many laughs.

Revy snow continues to impress. GH is a pristine location and if an effort was ever made to satisfy there customers would also be the ultimate destination for the perfect riding area...

Not defending GH as I have had spotty service there as well, but as far as the reservations go, promptness is important. 28 people is a big group so it takes work to be ready for it. I would be annoyed if I brought in extra staff to be ready for a big group and they were late like that....especially if they had blocked off tables for your arrival.....

but they DIDN'T bring in extra staff!!!!!!! that's the point!!!!!!!!!! and we didn't really have reservations for food! it was in the PUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And for 4,995,000 it could be yours. Who wants to kick in $20 bucks. Maybe we can do a group buy.

You never know though. Maybe one bartender, one waitress, and one cook is extra waitstaff. Plus we were fashionably late (30min) :D:D, not 2 hrs. The place was staffed the same the whole week we were there so WTF is the difference.....

just got back from 4 days at gh, cabins were good, food isn't stellar but edible, alex is a grump, didn't have any theft problems or fuel issues, it has lots of potential just needs motivated owners, right know they act like they are tryin to get the most cash out with the least input

We stayed there for 4 nights during BIS.

First night... cold hot tub...
Internet suckd all the time. bad wireless router I am gathering.
Restaurant was closed at 9. pub had no food either. WTF??

breakfast was WAAAAAAAAYYYY too expensive. We went to the gas station at big eddy, and had the best brekkie ever! highly recommended.
icy walkways,
Drying room was never opened.. furnace down..

they never let the Zala limo on the premises.. we had to walk to the gates to meet up with the limo.
(Zalas are AWESOME!! free limo ride, and the driver got a healthy tip)

Plus the soap they supply the rooms looks like someone washed their arse with it and had corn the night before..LOL:eek:

Nice rooms though, but too expensive.

Well our experience wasn't much different then most. We arrived and were unable to get into our room, no big deal they gave us a place to stay.

When we got back the guys that had been in our room had all of there stuff dumped on the deck, seems they thought they were good for another night.

Hot tub was gross. One of the guys went to deck and complained and we had clean water the next day when we got back.

The first night we went to the sledders pub for dinner and it was OK. We wised up after that and went to town every night after that.

We found ourselves waiting a lot. Waiting for fuel, waiting to rent gear, waiting at the front desk. They just seemed understaffed. Alex never said anything to us but the girls were very nice.

We are giving it another shot this year because we loved the location. But I'll let you guys know how it goes this year.:beer;

Stayed there last year... great cabins, access was a nice thing.

Same: into town to Zala's everynight. Breakfast, well, big deal. I never had a direct dealing with Alex, but standing on the sidelines watching, I learned I really didn't want to. Just comes off as to busy to be bothered, self important. Kinda' an awkward way to bring back business.

Days Inn next time I think. Then we can WALK to Zala's :D

I tried running you over in the parking lot the night you got there I think..... I'll blame it on "tired".......

I had same experiences as the rest of you! They booked too many room b/c they mis understood and then tried billing us full price even though we didn't want or need the room. Supper was between 5 and 7 or something stupid so we missed supper, breakfast was gross and two of us got sick. Rooms were cold b/c they had furnace problems and only 2 poor girls working the whole week! We'll never go there again! And Alex was an ***.

Nothing good about Glacier House

We have spent 4 out of 7 seasons there and each time have a less than favorable experience. BUT THIS LAST FEB. WE WERE BILLED FOR A COUPLE OF FAKE CHARGES AND WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN. BEWARE THE COMMENTS ABOVE ARE NOT FAKE THESE PEOPLE ARE REALLY OUT TO SCREW GOOD PEOPLE OVER.

^^^x2
we canceled the cards we used after we left so this wouldn't happen

yep a month later they have taken pictures of supposedly broken damage to a chair thats in a basement that looks like a bat was taken to it

there trying to get more $ from us because the lost some $ because of the exchange

i hope they read this because i will not stop telling people about the bad experience i hope the lose a ton of $ over it
