Leaving Alaska....

I cant believe it but I am moving from Alaska back to Upper Michigan to take care of some family....I have really enjoyed riding all over this incredible state of Alaska for the last 12 years. Even better, I have rode with some of the nicest riders in the world up here. I grew up riding sleds starting on a Kitty Cat and been hooked ever since. I have rode all over the lower 48 while in the Air Force for 20 years, but I have never found everything in one place like here in Alaska. I plan on coming back every winter for a month or so of spring riding so see you then....Praise God I found a nice house with a big shop on a lake, sold mine and everything fell in place in a week....As some of you know I built my house and shop up here with the thoughts of never leaving....never ended up sooner than I thought.

God Speed brother. Our loss will surely be the gain of your new neighbors. Will look for your return for spring snow, you know where to find me.
My best to you and yours,
LA

Sorry to hear you are leaving Robert. I heard through the grapevine of plumbers from your old shop, that you were leaving. Take care and remember that you have plenty of friends up here if you get a chance to come back and visit. I don't think you will have any problems finding free ATV/Snowmachine loaners.

Allen

Big Al,
I cant wait to come back up each winter. I am looking for a good deal on a cabin right now...maybe up by Eureka? Keep your ears open. Are you doing the Tok run this year?

the_dougdangerak just stopped by my house so I could sign off on his riding instructions. I have tought him every thing I know (took all of 4 minutes), so I can leave Alaska knowing that Doug is a better rider because of me:rolleyes:
Good luck on that baby Doug (any week now), your going to be a great father....as long as you dont get stuck on some impossible cliff. If you do call me on your sat phone and I will fly back to get you down anytime;)

No plans for the Tok-Dawson run this year. Going to spend this winter helping my wife learn to ride in the mountains with her new sled. I want her to see the awesome views from areas like Lost Lake and the thrill of riding in the backcountry.

Hopefully you find a bargain on a cabin and make it back up here some day!

Good luck with the move and sorry we didn't ever get a chance to ride together really. Let's try to coordinate a small forum ride for the time perioud when you're back maybe? Just a thought.

Good luck Robert. It was great riding with you. Give Nick or myself a call
when you come back to Anchorage for a visit.

I will, Thanks! Packing the house by myself and and the shop is killing me! I never knew I had so much stuff. I already have a 27' U-Hal 8' high filled and my enclosed trailer, and that is after selling my house fully furnished. I will have to come back for a couple of my cars but it will all work out....right?

Sorry to hear your leaving Alaska, I hope that your winter-spring plans are for coming back during the Valdez hillclimbs so we can meet again. Good luck in the U.P., there could be worse places to go.

That is when I was hoping to come back. Johnny Wick is building a freak show sled and some one has to talk some sense into him:rolleyes:

I am sorry I did not get to ride with you at all, but I am glad that I have met you for sure!
Are you keeping at least the trailer full of tools? Who will help me out when I am broken down?
Hope to see you moving back to AK sooner or later (better sooner than later :beer;)
Do you need help moving? Or driving your stuff south? Lemme know if you do, I should not be too busy in Sept....

There is no talking sense to Johnny! You just want to ride his new monster. I am thankful I got to ride with you this past winter. Hope to meet up with you when you make it back up here. One day you will be back for good. Take care Robert and prayers for the family.
Tim

Robert you take care of yourself.

Always remeber you have a place to stay here in Valdez. You will be missed by all.

Don't worry about Doug I try to help him through the rough times.

You generosity is going to be missed up here that's for sure. Keep in touch. And Family always comes first.:beer;:beer;

Your right Tim, he said I can ride his project "X" sled...I will be the test dummy...that is if I can hold it to the bars and still stay attached. He mentioned Gorilla glue and Velcro what ever that means ;)
The 800 dragon mod sled I have from him right now is crazy fast (I hate to sell it). I am still looking for a cabin to buy to come back up for spring riding and some hunting...any thing in mind?

You mention these *cars* what are they?

70 Corvette, Supercharged (Pro-charger) 720HP @ 6psi, frame off restoration
70 Z-28 RS Camaro, just painted, for sale, your choice of motors I have...
I sold the Z06 Corvette to my buddy, it will be on the Autobahn next month

Thanks Mike,
I know where you will be...how many miles did you rack up in the mountains this year? Your one of the only ones I know that has as much time off as me in the winters:face-icon-small-coo

Hey Spook! How is that wicked Arctic Cat coming?
I sold my 4 post lift with my shop, but I have an account to get them if you want one. They shipped it right to my door:cool: Maybe I should have told my wife before the truck showed up:eek: Have I mentioned that I have a great wife? PM me if you want one! Do you have a place for me to crash for a couple days in the spring? I am used to sleeping in the dog house....actually I usually live there:rolleyes:

Spook, before I leave Alaska I just wanted to thank you and your wife again for being one of the sponsors of the Valdez Hill Climb race. You guys are awesome!! I know you put a lot of time and money into the event and it shows. Thanks again Spook!
