Lawn Freaks

My lawn looks great it's all cover with snow. Wahoo, Mowed it last week in 70 degree weather and covered with snow now did I say covered with snow Yahoo............

Normally my yard looks pretty cr@ppy moss in the front and dog holes in the back.

Just curious but why are your lawns so important to you guys? I could think of a lot of other things I would want to do than try and make my grass look green by dumping a bunch of money into fertilizers and "specialists." Plus the better your lawn is the more you have to cut the damn thing. I don't get it and want some insight.

Cause I like going barefoot in the yard and nice green grass feels better then dried out dead stuff.

Problem for me is the wife is paranoid about putting down fert, ect with little kids. She doesn't but the 24 hour rule. Any tips for that?

Nice lawn dobber!

Exactly....car stopped in front of my house one day, girl got out to touch the grass, looked at me and said she needed to see if it was "real".:D

Oh yeah...always use a LawnBoy 2 Stroke, if you can find one anymore!

BTW...I don't own the Subaru either!

Wow - Those are nice pics! My yard does not look like that yet. I am growing mine from seed and it's only 1 year old so it's not nearly as thick as yours.

Hopefully by the end of this growing season it'll be where I want it...

As a lawn professional I find it interesting that you chose seed over sod. What was your reasoning?? I know the benefits of seed, but it takes a ton of work to get an amazing end result. We are moving to an acreage, and still choosing to sod a large percentage of the yard.

Lawns grown from seed are typically more hardy and disease resistant. That's not to say that I still won't encounter problems but it's less likely.

Secondly, about half of my yard sits in shade for most the day so if I laid blue grass sod it would slowly start to die off regardless of what I do to it. So because of that I have incorporated a fair amount of fescue into my mix.

How much sod are you going to lay? That can get spendy in a hurry!

as soon as the snow goes and it ..is a bit dry burn it !!!!

it will be greenest fullest fricken lawn yah ever had ...

As I stated, I know the benefits of seed. Its just hard to convince the wife to be patient. Plus, nothing beats bare dirt one day, and lush green grass the next. Instant satisfaction!!!!!

I dont know, its probally about an acre or just shy. There will be 2-3 acres of grass, I am going to irrigate the whole works. I was hopefully planning on sodding the main portion around the house. We will see after I am done with the landscape, how much money is left over. My landscape plans are pretty huge.

The local sod contractor is one of my buddies and I have his sled in my shop as we speak. So he might owe me a favor or two.
