Latest season sledding?

I called today before heading up they were planning on closing it but the snow bridge collapsed.

Did they say it was open or closed?

they said it was going to close any day now.

This is why they were going to close it. It was a crazy boon dock through the woods. I thought there was a forest road where the groomed trail was.

I would be curious how the trail gets established early in the season.

There isn't even a hint where the trail is currently.

It was one of the best days I have had at Baker. met three riders who took us all over they were great riders and showed us a number of areas I had not experienced before.

Which way do we go???????

It may be open but how do you get to the snow?

If you had waterproof leggings you might be able to carry a snow bike across?

There may be spots you can get to the river join below peanut but the bridge was almost gone there as well.

I don't want to stop someone from going up but I don't know how you could get up there with the current situation.

I wanted to let people know what's up there. It takes me about 3 hours to get there from my house. Lots of Gas, time and money.

You take a risk any time you are on the Easton glacier. Let me ask you, do you ride with a harness and carry crevasse rescue gear that you know how to use when you ride there? I've traveled enough glaciers to have a fair awareness of what to look for, but I don't fool myself into thinking it is safe during any time of the year... I've punched through before up to my waist when descending on a glacier in BC, and I have skied over a lot of holes and cracks.. You have to pay attention as you go up and if is late stick near the boot path and keep it pinned until the top.

This was low down on the Easton on that same day.

Yes it is a risk every time you ride Easton glacier. But doing it this late in the season in my opinion isn't smart! But it's your life, do with it what you want :)

There are ways up- go right up the fall line from the camp ground, for example. No creeks to cross to the summit.

I try not to make assumptions about other peoples' capabilities. I often find they can do things I can't, and vice versa.

Went up Saturday, great day to ride. Crevasses are starting to open up, had to sidehill above a big one on the way to the crater.

You guys have absolutely no brains. Riding across the glaciers this time of year and posting pics that are both out of bounds with a license plate number in the one and yes the Park Butte lookout is out of bounds. Serves you right for what you get. Hopefully just a ticket this time and not dead in a crevasse like it could have been.

Being that I followed a snowmobile club to the butte I never thought it was out of bounds. lesson learned. Tip of the triangle goes to the edge of the crater, which I am aware of, and have not gone past.

I am so in the learning mode if you can still find a way to rock it, definitely go for it is totally worth it if you can get up to the snow!!!!!!

It goes to Sherman peak not the crater, ignorance of the boundaries is not an excuse.

I agree about poaching wilderness, and also about posting pictures of oneself poaching.

But,

Why does the lookout keep coming up? The ridge the lookout sits on is the boundary - West is wilderness, East (where you see the machines parked) is in the recreation area and perfectly legal.
