Anyone know of a company doing a turbo setup for a 2011 kx450 or any of the fuel injected bikes? I know about the boondocker/RMZ450 and the dude doing the carbed CRF450.

info

I talked to Kelly at KMS motorsports(the builder of Scotts CRF450turbo) about building me a turbo also. He will build anything for the most part, that is what he does. When i talked to him he said they were working to get something going for the snowbike market, so he would be my choice of builders for sure. Im sure area 51 is gonna get one.

I think there's going to be a market for turbos on the snowbikes. Most of the systems should be similar from bike to bike with a few differences like piping and brackets, etc. A fuel injection programmer with a boost input will be needed for the FI bikes. I'll have to look up KMS and talk to them. Who is area 51?

Hey Snowhawk, I have a buddy who lives in Aberdeen. He just picked up a kx450 and a timbersled setup

My CRF450's are injected running a PCV 3d map and autotune. Get with Kelly at KMS Performance. Lots of info on his Facebook page. His builds work.

I thought the CRF's that Kelly did were carbed, sorry, my bad. Thanx for the info, I'll have to contact him. How has yours worked out in terms of reliability and drivability? What kind of fuel are you using compared to boost? Have you got much time on it? Thanx in advance

Bike 1 has about 200 miles on it. Runs great. Learned some little setup tricks. No reliability issues. Just start and ride.
Bike 2 just arrived at my place today. Will start installing a MH kit now. Wish I had another 137 track (on BO). The 121 track just isn't enough track for the HP of the turbobikes.
Both bikes have custom Rekluse EXP with lockout. No turbolag (really). Makes drivability easy.
Both bikes run straight AVGAS. Boost 10 psi at sea level. I see 15 psi boost where I ride (10,000 ASL).

Scott, thanks for sharing the information on your 450 turbo builds. Does the motor still have much low RPM torque left (after adding the turbo)? Also, could you please post some video footage of this. Would really like to get a better idea about how well this performs. Thanks.

At low power settings it behaves like a stock bike. It just has lots more power as you open the throttle. There is no noticeable turbo lag. It comes on so smooth you actually wouldn't know there is a turbo except for the whistling, the wastegate noise and the fact that its time to shift because your against the rev limiter. No great videos yet because I always get sidetracked riding. I'm planning on going to Hawkfest later next week for a few days. I attached pic of Stock CRF450 vs Bike #2 Dyno sheet 101HP and 54 FtLb Tq.

awsome

I'm looking forward to meeting up with you. Is Kelly coming out with you too?? He said he might come out. Man I really want to turbo area 51 but think im gonna put a 15 inch under it first, no big deal and makes more room to work. see ya there.

We have some snow on the Mesa. It's thin but ridable. Snowing tonight. Maybe we'll get 8" or so.

Can I pay you to stop having fun for 10 seconds and turn your helmet cam on? Would LOVE to see some first person angles on that thing.

Lol. For some reason when I get on that thing I have the attention span of a fruit fly. If I go up this weekend I'll try and concentrate and get some video. Really.

Who has time to film when the riding is so good!

Sorry I agree, but it's hard enough to be seen as it is to get a good day of footage. Believe me the bikes work, more power and snow only gets better, ain't that the way it works with the two plankers?:face-icon-small-coo

We really need to see some video of this thing in action!!!!!

My son is putting together some video we took at Cooke and will post when ready. I let guys ride it at Cooke, including a few from Timbersled. Maybe they can chime in with a ride report...
