kudo's to Ford!!

is cummins realy owned by ford?

At one time Ford owned a small pecentage of Cummins, that is true. They wanted that motor for their pickups. Ford sold off what they owned around 99 or 2000 when it became apparent to them that the contract between Chrysler and Cummins was so iron clad, and the options to renew the contract for so many more years was in effect that Ford lost interest in their percentage and sold it. Dodges contract with Cummins currently runs until I beleive 2015. Please feel free to correct me on any facts I may have wrong.

It's only because Ford took out billions in loans from the private sector just before the collapse.

There was some business analyst on the radio today that was talking about that. From what he said, it was a couple years back. Ford claims they can operate on that cash for upwards of another year or two, but this guy claims that's a big stretch.

there was a guy on fox news today and he said no way will tax payers ever ever see that money paid back ever

Well then, I guess it's time to let Japan build our cars for us
It would be cheaper for us

just step back and look at all the **** that has went down in the last 4 weeks. what will it be like 47 months from now

I believe it to be true that some years back Navistar bought Cummins. I also have heard that when the grandfather rights expire that Dodge will be turning to Catipiller for their new diesel power plants. If i am incorrect my appologies to anyone that has better info.

Cat will no longer be making on-road motors in a few year 2012 i think. they will only be selling off-road motors because of the emissions.
