...so they ship all manufacturing jobs to china, but I still have to pay 100$ for a decent pair of gloves? B.s. IMO!!

What we have found is that the product works. It sells, and the cheaper versions out there aren't as popular because they do not work for people. Until somebody makes a cheaper version that works the price will definitely not come down, outsourced or not unfortunately.

I would gladly pay the 100$ if they were made in USA...I'm sick of supporting chinas economy while ours is struggling! Companies that were started here need to stay here and quit selling out. All the money they saved is obviously only helping to pad corporates pocket, not provide American consumers with an affordable product:face-icon-small-dis

Which gloves are they and why don't the work?

Danner Boots did the same thing, I,ve changed brands and will change brands for sled gear as well.

I have a love/hate with Klim. They have treated me fantastically on bibs/jackets, but not so much on gloves. I had a pair of the PowerXcross gloves a few years ago and the stitching came apart on them. I saw that they had redesigned them so I put them on my X-mas list, hoping that they had improved. It was my third ride with them this weekend and I am not very impressed. Your hands kind of move around in them, even though you have a death grip on your bars. And my hands get really cold as well. I have the Motorfist "Midweight" WOT gloves and they work much better for me. As for the outsourcing thing...is there a company that has all their items made in the good ol USA?

It does work but it's outsourced. MF isn't and their stuff is better (IMO) than my Klim gear I sold. And their Customer Service is hands down the best in the clothing industry. I switched, don't regret it and I will be a MotorFist guy until I die.

MotorFists gear is almost 100% made overseas as well, China, Italy, Vietnam..... I paid to expedite boots and helmets overseas just for the shows....

Their CS is hands down pretty phenomenal though!!

With that said yes they make a great product too, in fact we sell almmost dead even amounts of gloves for both brands, but the point was that if it works and works better than other cheaper brands (most of which are also made overseas), they wont lower price. The fact they work and sell better than most alternatives shows justification to cost more. This goes for both Motorfist and Klim products. I too would much rather see these jobs and economy boosts in the USA, but I also see wanting to make more money as a company too. I mean thats the whole point of having the doors open, to make money. This is just one of those battles that will never be won right now in the US, our labor is too expensive to keep costs down and stay in the US.

For the light weight, mid weight and entry level heavy gauntlet style gloves they are all priced within pennies too for these two brands.

MF Kill Switch/Klim Inversion $49.99
MF W.O.T./Klim Powerxross $89.99
MF Valkyrie/Klim TogWotee $99.99

And you'll notice the jackets are the same way, same price points.

They are the togs I believe...my wife got them for my b-day and I didn't realize till the other day how much she paid...the gloves DO work, I just think 100$ is a ton of money for a pair of gloves! Tell me you can't make a profit with American labor...BS. In a factory situation the price to produce these couldn't exceed 20$ /pair...MAX.

aeb I found the same thing. The waterproof membrane is slippery, like a glove within the glove. My boys like them but my forearms get pumped up when I wear them.

I'm afraid that in our sledding sport these days, the ONLY thing totally made in the USA anymore is the snow itself! That being said, Klim stuff rocks! Good quality, and good service. We'll see if that continues.

Motorfist is great gear but isn't made in the USA. I've been real happy with everything MF that I own and there customer service is top notch but I would feel better about paying for it if it were made in the USA

Well, crap. Ate my words.

Oh well. I love their stuff and they have bent over backwards to take care of me. I won't have a bad thing to say about them.

I agree with you that it couldnt cost over $20.00 bucks even in the US, in fact it probably would still cost less. And ya if you look at it black and white that would be a 500% markup....but once you factor all the costs involved etc to actually get the glove to the end user regardless if it is sold direct or ditributed etc....those margins are not there. The overhead of these companies just to promote, build, R&D etc these products is absolutly insane.

No ditributor is going to go through the work to sell something and make less than 30% on their initial investment for these overhead cost reasons. And as a distributor we obviously dont buy them at full retail....so you figure Klim makes them for $20.00 sells them for $60 to a distributor and then the distributor sells them for a $100.00.

There are just so many things that the end user doesnt see behind the scenes that cost money that is reflected in making and selling the product. With that said yes I do think some things are over priced in this industry, but again you have to make money to stay in business, and that goes for the main company and all the distributors.

I would buy more American made products if they didnt suck so bad. I find that most of the things manufactured in the US are crap. Make em wherever you make em KLIM, Ill keep buying as long as the quality is there.... Im sick of buying cheap crap that doesnt last, I dont care where its made.

higher taxes more outsource makes sense to me

Couldnt agree more..When you create an economic climate like ours that forces outsourcing, how can you blame the companies for trying to remain profitable?

Its more than just cheaper manufacturing.... The new obummer healthcare package is what most employers are worried about now... Better to outsource now to China rather than deal with this healthcare crap.... Our current administration is creating this economic atmosphere....More collateral damage of that hopey changy bullsh*t.
