Klim or HMK gear

HMK makes a nice looking boot but everyone that I know that has them has to use "Redneck Gortex" to stay dry (garbage bags on their feet). i have a pair of the Klim boots (model with the inner boot) and I can honestly say that my feet never get wet from external or internal (sweat) sources. They work as advertised and they are very warm too.

Prefer the HMK gear for fabric weight, athletic fit, mobility, and general comfort. Durability, temperature control, and stay dry performance is a wash.

Pro Boa Focus II boots were (and are..they can't have them back and I'm gonna wear again this season!) simply the best PERFORMANCE snowmobile riding boots I've ever used or worn.

Everybody knows the best riders in the world wear HMK:D

Well then I better get a pair:D I'm due for a new pair. Did you have any problems with your feet getting wet from sweat when your riding hard? Hate nothen whorse then wet feet!

How was the snow show? Snowen on flagstaff!!!:D:D

Great thread! I am in the middle of figuring out what to ride with.

I had a pair of Arctic Cat gear, bib pants and a light jacket. I went to the Arctic Cat gear as my North Face Jacket was to warm and my Burton snowboard pants were wearing to fast.

The Arctic Cat jacket has been decent since I layer with it. But the fit of the jacket is kinda weird, the neck collar is way to high. The pants on the other hand are terrible, they get soaking wet, the snow sticks to them and the zippers on the leg come up as you drag your feet in the snow. I had to duck tape my ankles to keep the zippers from coming up. I used Klim bib pants (Togwotee Bib) at the end of the year in the spring and they were fantastic. You can wear a very light layer underneath and be very warm.

Boots: I had been using my snowboard boots, my feet don't get cold but they do get soaking wet. My newest pair of boots, which I bought last year and paid $450, got destroyed by my tunnel/foot grips. Now few days ago I purchased a pair of Klim Adrenaline GTX boots and I very hopeful for them.

I am just trying to sort out what Klim jacket and layers I am going to purchase.

Tek Vest? Who uses them and what kind? Maybe best for a new threat but I know Klim makes one and I assume most of the other brands discussed here carry them.

it's funny, I read this whole post over again and have literally contradicted myself from 1 year ago
YES, iUSED to wear all snowboard gear, but these snowmobile companies have finally stepped up and made some nice "Freeride" gear for the snoboarder in me
I recenlty picked up some HMK Ascent pants and the ToBe Rockafella jacket
have not tried it on or even recieved it yet, but I am hopefull it will be good stuff

I spoke w F-Bomb and Lucas right at HMK and they r 2 great stand up dudes
YES, they work FOR HMK, but I honeslty feel that they are reccomending their product because it is great stuff
The pants were developed around snowboard gear and meant to fit like it, but be WAY MORE DURABLE and have snowmobile specific features
The HMK gambler jacket was right up my ally, but unfortunatly too much $$ for what I wanted to spend
Matt from Lake Effects hooked me up w a great deal on my brand new left over ToBe jacket

Also, I am starting to understand supporting the companies involved in our sport, fighting to keep areas open for riding etc..

Heres to a hopeful 09/10 season in my NEW HMK and ToBe gear! (and 509 goggles! :) )

PS - I also wear the HMK Pro Boots and they r simply top notch. 2 seasons on them, in wicked condition and keep my feet dry and warm all day!

I've never had anything HMK but the klim adrenaline gtx boots are FAR and away the best boots I have ever worn.

I don't see how anyone could make a better boot but I'd give the HMK ones a try if they weren't so damn expensive.

Can't go wrong with klim

I think Klim is way overpriced. Then again I have all Klim gear. Like a couple people have said, if i'm stranded in the cold the money difference becomes of little concern. Though I haven't used it, their warranty sounds top notch and the stuff will likely outlast others. Also as someone(s) said, you either are a Gore Tex believer or you are not. If you are then save up and get Klim you will not be dissappointed. If you aren't then buy something cheaper and don't cry when you're wet. :)

Thanks for the mention man! We just got some dates on our shipment and we plan to start shipping product on Nov. 12th (two weeks)!

I got a few pieces out of the production run ahead of time and it looks great!

caught first glimpse at denver sno-show had a chance to talk to the guys, this stuff is awesum, then again at the SLC show just waiting 4 sum talls 2 b made, count me in......:D:D:D:D:D

Klim is hands down the best clothing I have ever used. Gore-tex makes all the difference. The thought that goes into the clothing is second to none and it is very durable. You get what you pay for. I met up with a group from Engelhart's in WI last year in Dubois, WY. They experienced -25+ degrees and wind (before I arrived) and then it went to 28 degrees a few days later. Everyone had Klim and we rode every day all day and everyone was comfortable and dry. Almost a 60 degree difference in one week and the same clothing. That's the difference that Gore-tex makes. Klim works extremely well for snowmobiling.

You guys can argue all you want but Klim has the best gear by far. The boots suck though and so do the gloves. HMK boots are the chit

Yep 550 miles on my Klim boots and gloves and they were trashed. Last time I buy there boots or gloves. I have a pair of there bibs there OK.

I've learned my lesson, if it doesn't say gore-tex dont buy it.Check out what the manufactures have to do to get it approved by the gore-tex outfit.

Anytime, Ill plug a new product that is going to give some of the big names a run.

Seriously, anyone that is looking at new gear should take the time and check out the motorfist stuff. Quality is going tobe there in the product and the owners rider and promote sledding.

HMK Action jacket

Does anyone have the HMK Action Jacket? Thoughts on it? I don't need to hear about other ones......we have Klim gear already. My hubby would like a new jacket, and he likes the snow camo. That limits the options, especially since there is NO way he can have a coat that is completely snow camo colored (they way he is, it'd be a washing nightmare for me). I looked over the HMK, and it looks good to me, but wondering if anyone has any real world firsthand experience with this jacket?

I wear HMK cuz its comfortable and I never get wet. I used to wear my snowboard stuff before I decided I wanted to sled every single weekend, but I usually got wet. KLIM is darn expensive but I know its good too. But I think I'll keep wearing HMK as long as I'm still in college and can't afford KLIM. Not that I would switch now that I think about it.
