Looking to buy some new gear. What are your guys thoughts on Klim and HMK gear? Who's better?
Thanks

I don't think one is necessarily better than the other, I hear good things about both on here. I personally wear Klim, and love it, I have never gotten wet, even starting out in the pouring rain at the trailers, the materials they use are good quality, and they stand behind their product, so I never had a reason to look at HMK.

Try Castle X

I used Klim gear and yes its great.....BUT over priced I think.........................Now I will say the boots Klim has are awsome and I have some and the boots are not over priced I think.............I hade klim pants with a Klim coat and they were great like I said till they were jacked from my truck along with other stuff..............Anyways I tryed out CASTLE X pants and I will say they are just as good as Klim and 1/3 the price......I paid $135.00 for the pants and never turned back same for the coat........
But its all up to you and how much Money you want to spend......

Ive rode with the castle pants and they always seem to get wet. But the ones im wearing I think are just ment for snox maybe and thats what I bought them for, but out on the mountain they will get wet. Just want somthing you can be in all day long with comfort.
Thanks Guys

Don't over look the ToBe gear, its a bit spendy but it works great, not quite as extreme in style as the slednecks gear. I have had my ToBe jacket for 2 years and never been wet once and and thats alot considering how deep the snow was last year.

Prefer the HMK gear for fabric weight, athletic fit, mobility, and general comfort. Durability, temperature control, and stay dry performance is a wash.

Pro Boa Focus II boots were (and are..they can't have them back and I'm gonna wear again this season!) simply the best PERFORMANCE snowmobile riding boots I've ever used or worn.

Everybody knows the best riders in the world wear HMK:D

^^^ I'll second the Tobe gear. I have a pair of their pants and love them.
Everyone on the hill is sporting Klim these days and most of the gear out there is all good so go with what you think looks good.
I'm actually going to be sporting the HMK pullover with my Tobe pants....Tobe jackets are a little pricey for me BUT their pants and jackets attach to each other which I think is a great idea.

coming from a product sponsor

Yep while appearing somewhat bias you should know that I also had two other similar offers from very prominant apparel companies...but you see who I went with! Not one bit sorry about giving up my (bought and paid for) other apparel which was excellent in form and function.

Huge number of people that I ride with over the season have magically started collecting HMK Gear too....HMM must work. Might as well look good while you are having fun!

Once again I love my HMK stuff and have ZERO pause about recommending the line to anyone.

(I get the neat opportunity to test and try lots and lots of snowmobile products...when it's something that works great then you guys hear about it. When they don't..you won't!)

I have several HMK products and I have had some product wear and tear issues and I contacted HMK customer service and they shipped me all new replacement gear, what i am trying to get at is that HMK has some great products and even better customer service. I have not had too much expeirience with Klim but from what i hear from friends is that they are also a very reliable company. I would say that these two companys are both very equal with the exception that Klim has more products too offer.

Klim gear is not comfortable for athletic riders and it costs to much. HMK and ToBe and the best IMO.

awesome, but it was an observation, not an attack, retract the claws!

Why can't HMK add Gore-Tex (or equivalent) to their BOA boot or Klim add the BOA system to their Gore-Tex boot? This shouldn't be asking too much. My feet always got wet in my HMK's (several pair) and putting on the always dry, regular-laced Klims is a pita. Is anyone listening??????

want the best sledding boots known to mankind? Insulated (felt pack) rubber boots from Canadian Tire.......not sure where y'all americans can get them but up here they cost 40 bucks and they rule!! By the way, I don't wear them because I'm cheap (I also have a $500 pair of Klim pants), I wear them because they work and they keep you dry, while being light and nimble yet ugly and offensive!

You guys can argue all you want but Klim has the best gear by far. The boots suck though and so do the gloves. HMK boots are the chit

Not much in the way of ankle support though.

True enough, you wouldn't want to be landing huge air with them, but they do offer some measure of ankle support and they are great for boondocking, technical riding, deep, wet snow, and standing in creek beds getting your sorry assed soaking wet buddy's sled upright. I've been using them for years and a lot of my buddies wear them too and I don't know of anybody having ankle damage while wearing them, just a couple ribs, wrists, spleens, knees, collarbones....etc

Maybe not your exact answer. I have tried close to 10 diffrent pants and i found the Artic Cat Mountain High Pants to be great very small cat logo and thin water proof tall enough (i'm 6'3'') and i never get wet. I ride a doo and will not own doo pants no way horibble. To me style points mean nothing comfort , fit ,and function. I know i live in michigan but we got 200 inches of snow this year rode from Dec 2-April-12 best season in the U.P. ever

FXR had a sweet new line last year and its back again this year, its called the Vertical Series. Never have I been so happy in a set of gear, IMO Klim is way to heavy and makes me feel clamy. Rode all over the US last year from the trails of WI to the mountains of WY and was thoughroly impressed. They are using a new material called Tetratex which is supposed to breath at a lower temperature then gore tex, letting out the moisture before you even start to get hot. Not to mention the movement in the jacket is increbdible, its light and it feels unbelieveably free. I would suggest it to anyone looking to buy new gear!!!!

I have a pair of Klim pants, and a pair of HMK pants. I like my HMK's over my Klim as they are lighter weight and have a great fit!! My Klim pants are some of the first years made, love the built in pads which my HMK's also have. My Klim have started to get wet.....I spose time to send them in and see what I get back.....urgh, I know they don't make the same ones, and not sure of the fit.....for me..I also have the HMK Coat, it is a bit warm for me, not quite enough vents but it is by far better than what I had (Arctiva Coat).
