Klim goggles

I'm a big guy, sweat a lot riding and the ONLY goggles I've found that I can wear for more than 30 minutes playing hard in the mountains are the smith turbofan goggles. I imagine the other companies that have fan goggles would work well too, but if you have this issue the fan is the only way to go.

I can ride all day with them, never had a fogging issue last year once I purchased them. I just left them on hi when I was actively playing and turned them to low whenever I wasn't working hard. Changed the 2 AA's every 2 or 3 rides and never gave it a second thought.

Quick straps are a large contributor to fogging goggles.
all it takes is a few snowflakes on the inside lens and the fogging commences.
I see people pulling the goggles off and letting them hang. Then later they're changing their fogged up goggles while I wear the same ones all day. I never pull the strap and let them hang.
Now if its dumping some snow and I get stuck alot then I will probably have to change goggles.

This is exactly why we asked. More times than not, if a person switches goggles often they do one or all of the following three things.

~Use QuickStraps
~Remove goggles from helmet and hang on bars. (Remember the lens and the frame are the heaviest part, the tend to be the part dangling with the inner area of the lens pointing to the sky)
~Set helmet on the hood/console, where all the heat from your engine is melting snow and creating steam which funnels to the top of the sled console and hood and then dumps into your helmet creating condensation.

It only takes a couple of flakes to end your day of fog free goggles, most of the time you probably will never even see them in your goggle.

We sold out last year, but they had a terrible warranty issue that they dealt with for the lenses. A ton of pairs were getting snow particles in between the dual lens. This year they came out with a second goggle called the Radius PRO, which was supposed to fix any lens issues from last year. We are just now starting to get our stock of them in now. If you do a search you should be able to find some threads on the goggles from last year, not a ton of people actually riding the new stuff this year yet.

How can a person tell if they have the new/updated lenses? I purchased a pair this fall(not from you) and hope to not have ended up with a potential problem...

Thanks,
-John

I just live chatted with klim. The pro has a thicker strap and out riggers. Thats the only difference. And the issues with the lens has been addresses with both frames.

While doing a bit of investigation today, and updating our website with the new "Radius PRO" goggles, we wanted to better clarify what you were live chatted yesterday. The "Radius PRO" does have a thicker strap and outriggers, but that is compared to the new $69.99 goggle they released this year, called the "Radius".

All Klim goggles bought last year were also just called the "Radius", not to be confused with this years new goggle that is $69.99, and are the exact same as this years "Radius PRO". (2013 "Radius" Goggles are the same frame as 2014 "Radius Pro") The difference in last years goggle, and this years "Radius PRO" will be the labeling on the box, and the new lens.

Sorry that is confusing, but the nitty gritty. So in Laymans terms, the Radius PRO goggle is the same goggle everybody bought last year, just with a new lens. Samer case, same bag etc, just new cardboard sleeve over the case. The "NEW" goggle that they added to the lineup, at a price point of $69.99, is completely new from Klim, and loses the thick strap, and outrigger on the goggle but retains the exact same lens that the pro has. So you save money on the goggle by not getting those two things.

Mmm, unless you have the cardboard sleeve, I do not believe you will be able to tell if they are the new "Radius PRO" or not, the only way to tell that I know of, is part #'s, and the fact the new version says "PRO" on the box. I sure hope you didn't get doped into full retail for old goggles, but if you did, you know where to shop from now on!

They would only cost 50$ if they packaged them a little cheaper. The goggle box is an amazing piece of hardware.

The case and everything from Klim is top notch, always will be we think. Part of building the brand that has become so loved.

I find the 509s jus fog with my breath not sweat. My dragons do not. If im breathing hard from playing in the trees and/or getting use to the altitude, if im not flying they are fogging. A simple fix would be a breath deflector but i swear they still fog with the one i have. My dragons i can stop and keep them on, if they fog a bit soon as i drive its gone. If i have the deflector, no fogging.

I only change out goggles cause i wear my 509s up the trail and then till the fog. Then i switch to dragons and i wear them all day. If its wet snow or something i change them but usually save the second set of dragons for the ride out.

Anyone use these? Seems like they sold out last year. I sweat alot from my forehead and i found my 509s fog bad even with a fan and to add to it the fan warped the lens by putting pressure points into it. My dragon dx goggles work well fogging but looking for something newer, my dragons are like 10 years old.

After reading the whole thread it makes me think you might want to try a helmet with more ventilation. If you're hot and sweating it's going to promote fogging plain and simple. I bought a pair of Scott Hustles last year that I'm very happy with but also tried on a pair of Scott Voltage ProAir's and I've never seen a goggle with so much ventilation to the forehead, I figured these would be too cold for me but might work for you?

I dont get the moisture build up at the top. My 509s fog from my breath where my dragons dont but the dragons dont have the large face foam. I think ill try smith sweat x 3s or whatever they are called.

I bought some Klim goggles last year and they worked great. I sweat like a hog and the Klim goggles performed as well as my trusty old Scott goggles. Had a pair of 509's with chrome lenses that I scratched to hell which overshadowed the fogging. They didn't fit well with my Arai helmet, so I bought a new Klim helmet for the ventilation and still had some fitment/fogging issues with the 509's, so I bought Klim goggles and haven't had any frustrating moments on the mountain.

Bought two pair last year and used them only on one ride. Just could not make them work.

This was with a Klim F4 helmet that my 509's worked perfect with. The klim breath guard that comes with the helmet fits good and seals tight to my face. I also wear nothing on my head or face so all hot air/moisture can easily escape. No quick straps and I often take my helmet off with goggles still in them and place on top of my tunnel bag so no heat gets to them.

This has worked great for years with almost any goggle I try but DID NOT work with the Klims. Eric

two sets, never use now

i bought into the hype, trusted the brand, used under many conditions, consistently fogged easily compared to my 509's or smiths...bought a new set of 509's this year.....been sledding a long time, know how to keep goggles clear, if it can be done in difficult conditions....don't like to step on anybodys' toes, but the klims were the worst of 4 brands i use regularly..:face-icon-small-sad
