Klim Freeride Pants

if you have the freeride pants let me know how you like them. i am trying to figure out what kind of pants to get. i like the klims for sure, just not sure about the freeride without suspenders. how thick are they? good for mountain riding? just would like some feedback on what people wear for pants. i have a tight budget also keep in mind.

I love my KLIM free ride pants, very good for mountain riding offers better movement then bibs do and aren't any thicker or thinner than the bibs. Get them, you won't be disappointed.

Well if you have a tight budget I think you might wanna look look elsewhere as they are spendy...but they are worth it IMO, very nice pants. I was so pumped when I took them off after sledding in them for the first time and my pants underneath were dry.

i can get used freeride for about $150, new 08 HMK Action pants for $140 or Klim Extreme 08s for $175ish. leaning towards the extremes because of the suspenders, but never wore pants without suspenders. do you get snow down the back or anything? i am 230lbs and 6' tall. would be getting XL size. anyone similar build and have experience with any of these pants?

hmk action pants

I have the HMK's and so far so good. I like the Zip off suspenders for different riding conditions. I'm 6'2" 230 and am wearing the XL and they fit well other than being a little baggy in the front. I have friends that have the klim's and love them too, I just couldn't throw down the dough for em'.

I have the extreme bib and like them. Has a little higher back, and can't tell the suspenders are there.

I wore klim bibs up until a few years ago, never thought I would wear the pants, I tried them, and I LOVE them. So much more mobility, comfortable, and just as warm. All I wear under mine are a pair of thin helly hansons and I've riden as cold as -15* without having any problems with getting cold.

If I could go back, I would get bibs. I have a hard time keeping the velcro on the sides tight. I was actually shopping for suspenders today. Maybe I just need a bigger but. I do love them, just can't keep them up.

I started out with the Klim Towgotee bibs, nice but to hot for me with my B Wear vest.

Then I bought some Klim Free Ride pants, love em but I couldn't keep them up, I kept having to pull them up. I am 6 foot, weigh 200 pounds and wear a size large. I then went out and bought a very nice pair of suspenders to go with them, problem solved.

If I was looking right now, I would go with the 2009 Klim Extreme Bibs. For 2009 klim put the full length leg zipper in the Extreme, which I like for getting them on and off over my boots. With the Free Ride you don't have that option.

I love my freerides and on the 09 design they actually do have the zipper going from the bottom all the way to the top, makes them easier to put on.

Wore the freerides last year, wicked pant. That being said I did go w/ the 09 Togwotee bibs this year though. I don't think you lose much of anything switching to the bib. I haven't noticed any heat or flexibility issues at all between the 2.

KLIM and tight budget are seldom used in the same sentence, but if you can afford it, the freeride's are sweet.

I was finding some good deals on used Klim gear and 08 stuff. but I ended up going with brand new HMK Action pants through snowday. hopefully they keep me dry. otherwise will have to try Klims for next year!
