GENERAL WEATHER SYNOPSIS AND REMARKS
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Subtropical moisture plume will continue to move northward into central California today, bringing significant precipitation from this afternoon through Saturday morning. Most of the accumulating snow will fall at pass levels, with snow levels expected to be near 7500' today and dropping off to around 7000 feet tonight. Most of the trouble conditions are expected tonight, when snow levels will come down to near or just below Summit level. By Saturday morning around 5-10" is expect at the peak. Confidence in snow levels is somewhat low and could see amounts slightly lower should snow levels hold above 7200'. Snow will taper off to flurries by mid afternoon on Saturday and then pick back up again late Saturday night. Another 2-4" will be possible on Saturday, with most of this accumulation occurring during the daytime hours. A strong cold front will finally push through on Sunday, lowering snow levels to near 3000' by Sunday night. Significant snow accumulations will be likely on Sunday. By Monday, snow will gradually end by early afternoon with much colder air is expected to settle into the Sierra Nevada. Dry and cool conditions are then expected on Tuesday.
