Ok, the riding wasn't the cool part of the day.

Got out with powder cowboy on sat & ran across a few other guys after he left, had a fun day, but the snow sucked.

After we hit that stepup (COOL hit btw, between king & corona Lake to the south, it's formed up perfect for about a 45 foot step), we decided to stop & have lunch.

Then the highlight of the day happened, what made it a killer day had nothing to do with riding...

I noticed him out of the corner of my eye at first, then looked over & caught a glimpse of him.
Started looking & he came bounding out toward us...

This little guy!

He's a snow weasel, this one is just a baby. I saw one last year @ Jones, then saw one last weekend near where this guys was living, about 30 yards from where we were stopped. Only the 3rd one I've seen in my life. & the other two were gone so fast I wasn't even 100% positive of what I had seen.

He proceeded to play with us for about 10-15 minutes, it was the coolest thing!!

got a few shots despite how freaking fast he was.

Dang you guys always bring out the wildlife!

My daughters ooohed awwwwwed when I showed them. :)

How'd that Ermin taste? WTF is that. I think CO weasals turn white in winter, but never see one. I lived her for nigh on 30 years and only see pine martins here and there. That lil thing is cool as chit. How'd ya like to have him chasin mice in the cabin. lol Nice to see some fairly rare WF down there :D prolly make a decent pet.

Sweet! Bushy, you should see what those little critters can do to a mouse. It's absolute carnage. Iv'e seen a couple on RE, but it has been a while.

I heard that seeing a Snow Weasel means its going to snow like a SOB for the next week.

Great Pics!

ok, I'm game for THAT one!!!!!

The snow is decent in little spots here & there, but in general just SUCKS. We could sure use snow around here.

Despite not getting squat for snow, I've seen some of the biggest slides I've ever seen up here, and in places that I've never seen slide before.

Sweet shots. I've only seen one ermine in CO. I actually printed and framed a 5x7 of one of the better shots I took of him.

Wait, I call BS. Everyone knows that sleds kill wildlife. There's no way an ermine could have survived having a sled within 100 yards of him.

Really cool pics Caleb! Thanks.

Praying and dancin' for snow.............fo sho!!

Crap, ok you got me. He was actually dead, having been run over by the ravaging snowmachines, but I put some fishing line on him (photoshopped it out) & played with him like a puppet for quite a while.

It's funny, I thoguht it was an Ermine, but a friend said snow weasel, so I looked up snow weasel & that was it for sure. This morning though I looked up ermine & found out they're the same thing, learn something every day.

Bloodthirsty devils...

We see them pretty frequently on Grand Mesa.

I once watched one take down a full grown Cottontail which must have outweighed the Ermine by 10 times or more. Pretty vicious little devils. Cool to see!

c'mon kaleb, admit he was riding around in your pants the whole time....we know better.

now we are going to lose another riding area because you are riding around with snow weasels in your pants
