Kid Ride 12-12-10

Marc from bottom of hill;

"Sorry man, I wish I could help dig you out as pay back for those last three you helped me with, but my sled won't make it up that high."

My boy is almost 7 months old and seeing this thread gets me pumped for when he is old enough to go out with me and ride!! A guy I ride with still takes his 8yr old boy out with us to go into the trees with and he just loves it.

Kids rock and I look forward to taking my boy up in the mountains on sleds or chasing bucks and bulls around in the fall!!!

Something to look forward to for sure. I had a long break while our kids were babies. I still managed to get them out for a little ride to the sleigh riding hill. All bundled up in my infant carrier straped to me. Then I'd wear a big jacket and zip them in. I was riding a two up for a couple years. :face-icon-small-dis Do what ya gotta do. LOL!!

There is no point in me coming all the way up there when i can just send Devin on the Phazer!! Its his trench your stuck in anyways.

That kid can ride, can't he, nothing like 100#'s on a phazer to put a thumpin' on everytime. I think the real secret to your kids ability is that awesome swedish fish and nacho cheese diet you keep them on. I just can't compete.

I dont know if i can eat much more nacho cheese after your wife left that 5 gallon pail of it at the cabin. I think we finally threw it out a few weeks ago!! Make sure she brings some of her homade salsa again next time, that stuff is gooood.

You mean we get to come back? I guarantee she will trade salsa for overnight accomodations.

Bonus!:face-icon-small-hap (She just told me you better get us penciled in, she only has 52 quarts of salsa left.)

When my wife finally got pregnant, we made a pact to not let it stop us from doing what we love. By the time he was 6 months old he had been to moab 3x, dunes twice, cainville, bear lake, and camping a few times. He's 3 now and has seen more of Utah so far than most people who have lived here their entire lives. It's amazing how much they remember and bring it up out of the blue a few months later.

Just gear him up, strap him to you and enjoy!!
P.S. Smith optics makes a great little snowboard helmet that isn't too heavy for the really young ones. Works great in summer and winter.

When he was a month and a half we had him up in Alpine Wy camping with us over the 4th. We didn't take him on any dusty 4wheeler rides but we have thought about getting a side by side with a cab so nobody misses out. We also did the Bear Lake trip with him and love seeing him having a good time with his mom and dad!!

and just recently he came with us to get Christmas trees here in Idaho but him and mom stayed in the truck due to the snow being 3+ feet. The kids won't stay home

I would have taken him scouting and hunting with me but where we go to look for deer is to far to pack him and camp on my back but I can't wait when his legs are strong enough that he gets to come and sit between me and his uncle glassing high country mule deer in August.

riding sleds with a 6-7 month old doesn't seem like a good idea, hard to control him throttle and brake all at the same time. so when he is strong enough to hold on to the base of the handlebars it's game on for my little guy!!

Learn the one handed throttle quick switch to the one handed brake, cause if he's a normal kid, HE WILL FALL ASLEEP while riding.:face-icon-small-coo

Does he need to buy a 2-up for that type of ride? In all honestly, kid rides are fun but you don't really ride like you want. The good thing about them though are the memories and they really don't like to ride as long as the grown ups. :face-icon-small-dis :face-icon-small-hap It's nice to have it all. :face-icon-small-ton

The rides are definately not a normal ride. Last year our rides were at monte christo, I was lucky to get to little monte and back before he fell asleep. Then he'd wake up we'd have a treat from the muff pot and repeat. I strapped him to me with a big kidney belt just in case. And the whole time I thought I was going to blow up my sled from going too slow. Like gp said, it's all about the memories.
