Khoas shock settings.

I tried setting up my rts on my 65 khoas slash for 2.5 inches off sag and basically my spring is backed right off with a riding weight of 200lbs.
Im thinking the springs are stiffer than the 2021s.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Totally non-tech analysis- my seat of the pants from first ride Sunday would agree with RTS and ski shocks possibly being stiffer sprung on my 165 Khaos (matryx slash). I weigh just over 200 and had the low speed comp wide open on the RTS after a short while. Before next ride I will be trying some combo of less RTS preload/ more FTS preload…as I found it a little heavy on the skis. More so than a 21 Khaos. Otherwise the suspension felt very well sorted and I never found the bottom so far.

I also found the front end was planted. I tried 0 low speed settings and couldnt get the weight to transfer. These springs are def stiffer than my 19 rmk. I dont have much looser to go on the spring coller before i run out off adjustment
The fts is delivered with only a few threads showing so perhaps a bit soft.
Box stock the settings are not good.

This is not comforting to hear. I personally was excited about the softer springs this year seen as I'm only 160lbs RTR, but its looking like suspension revalve and springs might be getting bumped higher on the list of things to do...

Oh no, I found the Khaos lightweight springs on the 2020 to be too soft!, and much better on the good old type in 2021 Khaos. The 2021 I run almost stock adjusted, but I am a rather small guy at 160lbs. Sounds strange.

I stood on my sled at the dealer last night and initial impressions are it's really stiff. However I won't know until I get it home in a couple weeks and get the suspension set up. I weigh 140 in street clothes so hard to say until I can get it home get in my gear and then actually ride it.

Disclaimer: the snow we were in wasn't the best...and the last 21 Khaos 163 I rode was in GREAT snow, so I don't have a direct comparison. But my initial impressions agree with yours. Without trying it...I feel like a good starting spot for me is going to be a turn or 2 stiffer on the FTS preload, loosen up the RTS as you have. Factory-ish settings on clickers and fiddle from there. Ride was a little "stiff," but definitely not "harsh," so (at my weight) I feel the valving is gtg....but the LW springs are just stiffer than last year's. Should be easy enough to get it where I want it

I'm confused by the talk about "lightweight" Khaos springs. I did a quick search on the polaris parts fiche and see every Khaos I checked (not all) but a broad range of year (20-22), chassis (axys & Matryx), track length (146-165), and all have the same 180# spring.

Please enlighten me.

Lightweight as in the springs with the more laid out coil windings that weigh less....not referring to spring tension

interesting. Any photos of this? My goggle search came up empty.

I just eyeballed three Khaos springs (2020, 2021 and a spring purchased from a dealer this fall) and they all look identical.

thx

Look at the pics right on the Pol. site for a Slash model vs a non-slash

Are you able to get 2-3 inchs of sag on that sled? If one backs the spring collar right back, it still has tension on the rts.
The 19 rmk rts has alot of adjustments, enough to remove all tension from the spring.

It’s the mid resi on the khaos shocks limiting your adjustment.

I ran a 19 pro lightweight rear rear spring on khaos shocks on my silber turbo.

Barely get the spring into place by hand and max the adjustment at loosest setting.

Worked ok for boost.

Jay, my son is 240ish and rode a slash 155 pro for a day and his comments were, it was very planted and said his 19 163 pro sidehilled much better due to it not being so planted.
I think the lighter guys are gonna have issues getting some sag with this rts even backed 100% off.

Polaris introduced the "lighter" SLR springs in 2020. When you tighten the preload the springs warp lengthwise and can get so bad it rubs the threads off the shock body. My 2021 came with the older style springs. I suspected this was because Polaris or WE realized what was happening with springs. Could have been a covid this too. It appears the 2022s have the SLR springs again.

When you put the two types side by side the difference is very obvious. The warp in the SLR springs is almost comical.

New to the walker shocks, how are the ring collars adjusted on the velocity shocks for preload? They look like a double collar design and they didn't want turn by hand even with no weight on them.

Looked like on the fts and rts there is a squeeze bolt with an Allen head you may need to loosen first.
On my friends we backed the rts all the way of and tightened the fts 1/2" or so. It seemed planted before those adjustments.
