Keystone area suggestions?

My wife and I are headed to the Keystone area to visit relatives the 26-27th of this month and are going to bring the sleds along and want to do some riding. We are looking for suggestions of where to go that is reasonably close to that area where we can find decent snow and good back country riding. We rode up by Montezuma a couple years ago in a poor snow year but that is the only spot we have ever been in that area of CO. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Zuma is definately the closest if based in Keystone. You could do the Steamboat area, which should be awesome with the recent storm, or Vail pass which is closer than driving up to Steamboat.

The BEST stuff is way down here in the SW corner of the state but, that will take you another 3-4 hrs drive from Keystone.

Vail pass is ok, about 2-3ft in the trees, brush sticking through on the flats

The High Country Snowmobile Club of Summit County is grooming 18 miles of trail up Spring Creek (Grand County Road 10) 30 miles north of Silverthorne,Co. Great trail riding to ungroomed areas including the Sheep Horn divide area. You can find any type of riding you want, and good snow. Trails were groomed last week.

Vail pass has great riding, $6 access fee per sled (bring cash) but about 20-30 minutes away. Best bet, great riding.

Rabbit ears is nice, but much further drive. Assuming they both get snow which is normal I wouldn't drive the extra 3 hours round trip when Vail Pass is right there.

If you plan on riding on the weekend, forget Vail and the Bunny Ears, just two many people riding. Another great spot that will blow away Bunny Ears is the Flattops, much more terrain.

Riding this Thursday and Friday. Hope it is good and not too many people. If anyone sees the black crewcab Duramax with 2 black pro's on the deck it is us. Where is flattops?

The flattops are just north of glenwood springs and east of Meeker, some access points are Dotsero and north of Silt/Rifle area.

Planning on riding Vail pass Thursday and maybe Rabbit Ears Friday. If anyone wants to show us around we are headed there in the morning. We don't like to ride trails and have all avalanche gear and are quite experienced and capable.
