Keeping cats away.

I need some sudgestions on how to keep the neighbor's cat off my truck. And the shotgun is not an option. Please help the little bastard is scratching the crap out of it!

Spray bottle with straight ammonia. Probably not directly on the truck, but on the ground all around, tires too. Works for me. Cheap too.

seriously debating on weather I should socialize my pup with cats or let her grow up killing them, I have a Brittany that has "sharpness" breed into her.

The GWP(along with GSP, Visla, Brittany, pudlepointers etc) is what is known as a 'sharp' breed. While there is no easy definition for that definition, in practice, it means a dog that is fearless when hunting quick, 'sharp' animals such as fox and weasel (cats). GWP's were expected to locate and kill such game. In fact, until as late as the end of the 1940's, GWP's could not be bred in Germany unless they passed a 'sharpness' test.

would be bad though if my neighbor sees/hears their cat getting ripped

3 words .....22 and "pop bottle"

My father in law built a 'kitty-cuter' to take care of the neighbors cat. Basically a metal plate w/ 2 bolts welded to it, then take an extension cord, cut the female end off, use a couple of wing nuts to tighten down the cord wires, find a suitable place to put said kitty-cuter, and plug her into the wall. The neighbors cat kept getting into the garbage so he set it on top of the garbage and plugged it into a GFI. The first time the cat jumped up on the garbage can he got a little jolt of 'don't come back'. Never had a problem with the cat again.

Get one of those wire live traps. After you catch the cat, take it back to your neighbor in the trap and let them know that next time the cat isn't coming back.

subsonic .22 shells. Can't hear em...and if you ARE worried about sound...use the pop bottle.

I agree with the live trap.
However, if it were me, I'd show my neighbor the damage to my vehicle and return him his dead cat. ;)

Catch the cat in a live trap. Take a picture of the cat in the trap with your rifle leaning against it. Now take a picture of the guys wife on her way to work or out for a jog. Put both pictures in a baggie tied to the cats collar and send it home.

As long as the FBI doesnt call I suspect you wont see the cat again.
