i'm on pair number 2 and my buddy is as well. we keep rubbing holes on the insides of our legs where our boots touch the tunnel. anyone else having this issue? i really don't want to keep blowing thru pairs of expensive pants. first it was my motorfist pants, now my klims are showing wear. i thought it was my boots until my buddy said he had the same issue. never had this problem on my doo's, seems as tho the narrow running boards are causing the issue.

Cover bottom of pants with sacrificial layer of duct tape?

thought about that, but i'm not sure if its rubbing from the outside in or the inside out. my plan is to put airframes on for next year, i wonder if that will allow me to keep my legs off the tunnel.

Adhesive Gore-Tex patches 4"x4"

My gear is almost 100% Cordura (HMK) but I have these patches everywhere on the legs, knees etc. to avoid tunnel rash.
I even out them on my HMK boots too!

X2 on the lace hooks.
You could get a pair of gaiters to help combat the problem. They are much cheaper than pants.

Put your gear on and stand on the sled and see if you can spot where its happening. I bet its from the little cut out holes on the top edge of the tunnel

Are you wearing snowboard boots with the quick laces? If so, that is the problem.

i am and i moved the quick laces from the outside pockets to inside the boots. but my buddy is rocking the motofist boots. i'm goin with hmk boots next year. where can i get those gortex patches?

I wore holes in my MF Rekon pants. They now have rienforced panels sewn on.

If you look where your standing , the front suspension bolt is what your pants are rubbing on .

IMO , wider boards or narrower boots or maybe both.

FYI , I wear snowboard boots. My riding buds who wear narrower style boots dont seem to have this issue.

Its possible Mike that yours are from tree branches, there's not a big enough patch for that.. lol Nice and sunny on Sunday.. Finally Cheers :beer;

Every year I have to buy a new pair of pants in the last 7 years it never fails. It's either from going over the handlebars and getting snagged on the way over, or hitting the running board edge with my knee. I wear fox hard plastic knee/shin guards, these aren't little holes but full blow outs, after I ruined my first expensive pair of pants I don't spend more then $120 on pants now usually off eBay last years snowboard pants.

what did you use for patches? the only compaint i have with the rekons is there is nothing on the insides of the legs. prob why it didn't take long for them to rub thru.

If you look at the "teeth" on the outside edge of the running boards you'll see they resemble chainsaw teeth. Carls Cycles had a great suggestion when I took my 2012 Pro 800 home from the dealership,,,, They suggested taking a file or similar tool to "ease up" the edges on those teeth. I took a Dewalt side grinder and lightly smoothed off the tops of the teeth with the grinding wheel, this has eliminated torn or shredded pants and boots as well as saving the towing cover. I also didn't loose any traction that I've noticed, rode in 18 inches of fresh powder this past weekend, no issues with traction.

Sounds like you beat your pants up like Chuck Norris.

Can you send me the MF pant or Klim pants to see what we can do about them? I think We can get you hooked up with a solution on wither pant with some creative sewing.

You shouldn't be punished for hammering down on a ride. Some must thrash while many dream.....:thumb:

I used heavy duty truck tarp material and had a local shop sew on a 6 x 4 inch patch over the wear area.

MF said they wouldn't warrenty the pants for the wear.

i wouldn't say i beat them up, its just a combo of the chassis and my boots i think. i can send the mf pants to you if you would like. i think the issue with my recons is the lack of anything on the inside of the leg.

Send me a PM of your address and other contact info. We I will have someone contact you from the special OPS crew that can see if we can customize something for you. It's no charge.....They just want to see if they can do it!
