just got the virius threat again...

With any luck at all, the tech at Harris Publications will be on this bug today now that all the office staff has returned.

I got it the other day but didnt know where it came from. how do i get rid of it, can't do anything on my computer. now a little worried i will get it on my girlfriends computer while using it...

I have found out EXACTLY what it is. please read below.

I copied the file name that alerted just now when I clicked my snowest link. Avg alerted the following.

"google-analytiics(dot)com/urchin(dot)js" it described it as a "exploit rogue scanner (type 962)"

I found the following info read below.

Viewing the webpage sourcecode suggests the threat comes from the following javascript:

www#google-analytics#com/urchin#js (I replaced the dots with # to keep this from being an active script). Apparently this piece of Google spyware inserts an "urchinTracker()" function onto your computer.

What I find really interesting is that, although this is clearly spyware, no one is describing it as such. For example, see Wikipedia's puff piece on "Google Analytics" where they admit, "Some users do not have Javascript-enabled/capable browsers, which further limits the tracking ability of Urchin." Money talks and Google has lots of it!

Run Firefox with Ad Block Plus and you can BLOCK that Google Analytics crap. I do not allow it to run on any of my computers.

I just recieved the pop-up as well...When you get the dialog box that gives the option to Run, Save, or Cancel, click Save. Save it to your desktop or where ever you please, then simply delete it after it downloads.
