Just got home from riding a stock 2010 SE in Cooke

Just got back from a 4 day ride in Cooke City with the Nytro, was the first ride out with it since i got it a month ago.

I will say i wasnt very excited to go out on this trip with not having much experience on this sled since switching from my M8 and listening to everyone say its gonna be to heavy and underpowered.

But after about a quick hour of riding and getting into some decent snow (Visibility was Crap though) I loved the machine. I found myself riding tighter trees and climbing just as good as i ever did with my M. Although my old M or the Nytro couldnt keep up to the 2010 Ms or XPs i think and the other guys riding with were definetly impressed. They also were not excited to ride with the yamaha and spend the week pulling it out of the snow.

If you know how to ride the weight issue seemed non existent. Seemed to be able to cut through the trees and dip and dive through every spot i looked to go. I will admit it is underpowered somewhat, Id say give it another 30-50 hp and it would do a very good job at keeping up with stock 2 strokes.

Finally got about 200 miles and i can honestly say its the best sled ive ever owned after 2 M series and an older RMK. Stock form it impressed me over and over everyday out riding and couldnt of asked for more. It could of been that i had such low expectations but it definetly exceeded them.

Can not wait for a turbo and a few lightweight mods for next year and turn it into a real sled.

thats what i like to hear. im waiting for my first ride on my apex coming from my m8.

but if that nytro had 30-50hp more it would be in the same numbers as a m8 and by the sounds of it much more fun and reliable to drive

I have the 2010 Nytro Mtx Se 162 they are nice sleds. I installed the yamaha lightweight suspension and simmons gen 3 ski's. It handles very nice. Now just need 180hp TURBO.:face-icon-small-dis

Thats awesome! I rode a stock 2011 mtx at Thunder mountain lodge. I was also very impressed where it would go! It went everywhere i wanted it to go. I have ridden a newer m1000 back to back with an 09 xtx with a 2 in paddle and the M rolled over easier, but the 09 xtx had the sway bar in it. I would say the 2010 mtx's would roll over just as easy as the M now that they don't have sway bars in them!

It sure was nice on the trails to just be able to hold the throttle steady and not have to worry about egts climbing and blowing the sled up haha. Wake up in the morning fill it up with gas and not even think about putting oil was great, and never once did i even think about an engine failure.

I really love how smooth the power seemed to be and how there is no shaking or vibrating in the handlebars. I took out a hcr that was with us and sure did not miss the tingling you get in your hands from the bars vibrating all the time.

This is gonna be my first big build on a sled, and i figured what a better sled to start with than a nytro, no need to worry about it falling apart after a year or two of riding and having a bunch of money stuck into a wore out sled. Cant wait to start working and modding it out this summer, hopefully ill take the time and do a write up on it.

I've got the push turbo on my 2010 162 se and I got it dialed in this weekend pretty well. My dad rides a new 163 pro rmk and my nytro will now handily outclimb the new pro as well as kill it on the trail. He used to give me crap when it was stock but he was silent this weekend. You'll love it once you get some boost. Next year some weight will come off then I think it will be perfect.

Don't blow your budget on little stuff, get the turbo first.
Ya, but the little stuff is also what makes the ride SO SWEET!

Power is great, and no one I know doesn't want more, but it's a balance of everything that makes these sleds so nice.

I got the list all wrote up and the budget all figured out to include every little thing that i want that i can think of :cheer2:

I'm usually not a big fan of the yamaha blue but i sure like that one of yours Christopher

Christopher...don't mind if I take notes on your sled build do you...sick!!

So I road a 2011 supercharged Nytro 162 a couple weeks ago. While I think my riding style and a 153 match best, all I can say about this sled is that it was awesome. In tight trees following my maniac, I mean mechanic friend, it was pretty easy even though I still have a lot to learn. As for power...well take the smooth qualities of a Yamaha 4stroke, add 50ish HP, AND poof!! Like Magic, it was the best! I learned more and smiled more in 2+hrs at 10,000+ ft than should be legal!

Sound was great, power was great, and the Nytro handles with ease.

winning lotto numbers please?!

I SOOOOO hope that I can afford a Super Charger this summer.
Don't know if I will be able to pull it off or not, but I sure want to install one.

But then I really want a new trailer too.

So many wants, so few dollars to pay for them !! :face-icon-small-hap

Thats one sweet looking sled. How are you liking the SKINZ seat?
I couldn't be happier with the SKINZ products.
That taller seat makes it SO MUCH EASIER to stand up and sit down while riding.

The transition is seated to standing is much faster and you have better control over the weight on the sled while seated.

And for me, I gained a LOT of extra storage space as well.

Looks pretty good Christopher:thumb:
The blue sets it off nicely!

Just goes to show you that those of us that LOVE OUR NYTROS can take a rock solid sled and make it beautiful as well as practical.

Hopefully next year I will be a good enough rider to take a long trip to Cooke myself. This sled is still solidly above my collective skill level. Its always nice to know the sled still has more abilities left in her than I do!! Gives ya something to look forward to on every trip out!:face-icon-small-hap
