Just got home from Logan Peak

sad to hear. Rip boys and god bless. We all need to pay attention to avy danger and remember about those at home who wait for us. Again god bless and my thoughts and best wishes to both famalies.

I rode with Jesse and his family out of the Box Y several years ago. He was a fine young man. RIP to both these boys. I cant imagine the grief these 2 family's are going through right now.

Sled175, Where you riding with the victims? Can you fill us in on the details? I'm wondering what exactly happened. Where there multiple groups playing on the hill at the same time? Did someone go up to help another that was stuck? Etc........ I understand if you want to keep it private. I just think the more info the better and if it keeps one person from dying it will be worth posting.

My condolences go out to the Johnson and Jorgenson families. I hope you can find peace during the Holidays.

I was not riding with the victims, They were in a group of four. The 2 that have passed on went up to the canyon south of the rodeo grounds went over a little hill into the rodeo grounds didnt even climb the rodeo grounds but started a little slide. they then hurried back over there same tracks into the canyon south of the rodeo grounds to get the heck outa there as they were riding down and out when the whole moutain slid we believe they got hit from the back. As it was all happening the other two riders were coming up and met the avy right as it was over. At this point we believe nobody had touched a hill. The victims had beacons, the other two did not. So the two without beacons hurried down to the lake about 3-5 min away. Found a group that my boss and cousin and a couple buddies were in. Not sure if the guy with the sattelitte phone was in that group or not. That group hurried back up to the avy. Found where the first guy was pretty quick with beacon and probes a group started digging for him. another group went lookin for the other one found him bout 50 yrds up. took about 20 min to dig them out. We got there bout 5 min after they got them out. The first one was burried about 10 ft under the secound about 5-6 ft under. guys took turns doing CPR for about 20-30 min before life flight got there. Sent the one off. Life flight made it back in about 20 min sent off the other one. Only found Jorgensons sled.

If I have left anything out and somebody that was up there can add to it please do.
Sorry bout the puncuation and spelling.

Wow.

All the more reason for EVERYONE to carry a beacon regardless of if you are just going to be on the trails all day. You just never know when you will need it.

At least they weren't hill climbing, saw a slide and decided to get the hell out. Very said either way.

Be careful everyone, I know that I don't want to hear about this stuff happening. I am literally scared all week before I go out riding, I have my head on a swivel looking at all the terrain around me when out.

Sad day. I am from Logan and have ridden that area more times than I can remember.
I did not know them but being from there I can't help but feel a heavier loss than usual.
I can't begin to imagine what the families are going through.
God speed and God bless the families and affected.

Everyone for the time being please STAY OFF THE SLOPES! Plenty of snow elsewhere with more to come.

so sad. it seems They saw they were in a bad spot and tried to get out. We have all come into an area and looked above us to see a large hill. difference is now EVERYTHING can slide and this just did. Please Look above you. everything is now a potential slide. Stay out of any potential slide paths. The hills are set to be a killing field and we will have this repeated soon IF we don't talk to everybody we can about the risk. Talk to strangers at the trail head. Meet new people. Reach out and save a life. Ride a groomed trail with friends. anything but have this be repeated. My heart just breaks for these good boys who won't be coming home and were just like us loving the sport and the mountains as we all do.

Thanks for the accurate/detailed report. (CNN had reported that they weren't wearing seatbelts) Very sorry to hear this news today - there are ave deaths in all of the mountain states, but it always seems like Utah gets hit hardest. Not sure how to help out - more education/awareness is probably the best place to focus efforts.

I hope someone learns from this unfortunate tragedy and is able to avoid the next one.

Sad day.
