Just got a rev, looking for input

Just picked up a very low mile 05 800 151", it's stock other then a dyna port can. I have three things on thr top of my to do list, snow eliminators, bar riser and venting. Should I be doing anything else?

Where has the best bang for the buck vents for these? Just waning clutch and can sidepanel vents.

Bar riser? Going to keep the stock bars for now, looking for a cheap 2" or 3" angled block riser, where has them cheapest? RSI wants $80!

Any other set up tips?

Cheers

my opinion would be to save the money on vents by making your own. you can buy the screen material fairly cheap and do it yourself. then take the money you saved and spend it on a good strong riser. ive seen cheaper ones bend and break.

rsi or rox. both of them sell the 3 or 2 inch small risers. and mod rods has good prices on their vents. i would look on there. i think tey want like 100 bucks for their vent kit. which seems to be the cheapest around. i would only vent the clutch side tho. in my opinion thats the only place a guy really needs to worry about heat.

I don't have time to make vents. Anyone have any prefs?

What's with the clutch being in cased? Seems to just trap heat.

Would I gain anything from running pods or is the stock air box the way to go?

I have a oles riser on my cat, it only cost 35 or so think I'm going to get one for the rev, RSI and rox are way over priced.

Sorry for all the questions, hard to search the forum on my phone.

If you got an Adrenaline, I have a 2 inch riser that will bolt on for $20 shipped to your house. It's just an inexpensive PowerMadd but it works great. I took it off of mine after switching the post out for an X model. You won't have to reroute any cables or brake hose. You can then slide the steering post to the forward position and be set. You will have to drill 2 new holes to move the steering post up though.

The biggest bang for your buck would probably be a clutch kit. Get the power to the track and get it to back shift better.

XXXmodrods vents. I think I paid 85.00 bucks for a 5 vent kit, Hood, clutch, exhaust, and both knee vents. My thought is get as much heat as you can out of the engine bay. Junk the plastic clutch cover and a DJ of Rooster built clutch kit. Also, WRP mountain tuff boards are awesome. Highly recommend. My '05 has ran like a champ with stock engine. I suggest stock airbox, but cover the holes on the back side of the outer airbox or you will ingest belt dust.

I'm not sure if it's a adrenaline or not, how do I tell? You can move thr post forward ? I did that on my old cat and it was great.

I burnt a tank of gas today and thought the clutching felt pretty good, not sure I'd want to change it. It would backshift and hold nicely coming back down from bike climbs.

Is it just me or do the stock skis suck?

Adrenaline has U shaped bars, and X model has the T post bars. Also if it still has any of the stock graphics, it will clearly say X on it.
I have the same sled, my personal opinion is that no riser is needed. If you move your bars forward, you will not need a riser unless you are taller than 6'2".

Drill off all of the black plastic around the clutches. All you should have is the aluminum that covers the top of them.

Yes the stock pilot skis on the 05 sucked! Throw a pair of Simmons Gen I on there.

Put your money into some vents, either cheap or expensive, don't matter. Just get some venting on the side doors.

Put the most money into getting your sleds clutching down. If you are still running stock helix on that sled, you can make a huge improvement with either DJ cluthing or Roosterbuilt. I have and prefer Dynamo Joe clutching myself.

BIGGEST thing I would consider is how many miles are on the sled and when (if ever) it was last rebuilt? If you are over the 3K mark and it hasn't been rebuilt, then save all your mod money and get that engine gone through.

You are close enough to the end of the season though I'd wait till summer.

Cheers.

Thank Jed.

The sled has not graphics, original owner replaced everything to make it all black. The stock bars are like BMX bars with a Mtn handle.

I'm ordering vents this week, still shopping right now. I already have some shock tower vents to put on.

I'm 6' and the bars are too low, I only ride standing and my back was sore after a day of being hunched over.

What's with the plastic runner under on the outside of the skis?

Do either of those clutch guys have websites? $?

We ride till June so I have a lot of season left.

When I got the sled Saturday it only had 52hrs and 850mi.

I crashed atleast 3 times carving on one ski Sunday, is there something I'm negletting in set up to make these sleds happy on one ski? I could ride for miles on my old cat on one ski, is it the skis?

Plastic runner? kinda sounds like someone put xp skis on it. mxzx.revzone is DJ's site and makes a very good kit for around 300 bucks but last time I checked roosterbuilt is only for 07 and newer.

The carbines are on the outside of the ski and from the end of the carbines forward plastic runners continue up the ski inline with the carbines.

I am 6 ft 1in. And I always ride standing as well. Move the bars forward first before you buy a riser, trust me.

I have jc's custom vents and absolutely love them. Very durable, and the one time it wasn't he took care of me.

If you are fighting it on one ski then I'm guessing you still have a sway bar. Ditch that thing.

The first thing I did when I got the sled home was pull the sway bar! In pow I can carve it and stay on one ski, hard pack is the problem. I think it partly the skis and some skid set up as well. I haven't touched the skid yet, need to loosen the limiter and track up.

I'm moving the bars forward tonight. I bought the 2" riser from Justin and may use it or even may trim it down with a bandsaw if it's too high, just wanted the option there..

The control space onthe bars is small, I couldn't fit my lefty on with the handwarmer/light control block on, so I moved it under the hood.

I think I'm going to order moflow vents.

Any cheap two wheel kits for these sleds?

Those skis are junk! They are the stock ski with the stupid plastic runner under them for trail ability(tracking etc)
Get some Pilots, or Simmons, or PP's, or Slydogs....doesnt matter, I liked the Pilot 6.9's the best on the Revs.

Smitty's has a good quality 2-wheel kit and they are inexpensive.

Have fun with the sled!

Hey howzit goin...
My kit comes with 3 parts and are indicated here, look at your year (high elevation)

That kit is $275 and ships any time, always keep them in stock.

I recommend any belt except the 383, belt information

Thanky
joey

Joey's the man!!!! That right there above is your ticket. Be the best $275 you ever spent on that sled.

Great work Joey. Thanks again for your input.

BTW- that clutching change to the 380 spring on my RK Tek drop in did the trick. She is running crazy right now.
