Just wondering what to expect out of my new super Q can- looking for a nice unstock sound. My next purchase will be the y pipe any suggestions?

I should get it tomorow- or else it would be on. I have to wait til saturday to ride it tho. Which one is the loudest?

I've run the super q on mine the last two seasons and before I did my bdx intake. Before the intake I had probably the quietest sled in my group. Kind of a low rumble and sounded just OK. However now after my bdx intake I now am tied for the loudest sled in my group and I personally like the lower rumble that it has created.

So I guess what I'm saying is I like the low rumble better than the other sleds in my group and its still not super loud at WOT.

i wear ear plugs with mine on my 06 M7. She barks, no getting around that. I'd say a tad under the MBRP, but a different tone. It's loud, make no mistake about it.

I put a Super Q on my 09 M8 200 miles ago because I was looking for something that was not as loud/obnoxious as an MBRP. It is definitely quiter than an MBRP, but the more miles I get on it the louder she seems to get:p I knew that going in, and I like braaap she produces, especially at high RPM's!
Overall I am very happy with it and have no complaints. The fit and finish is good. Just remember to drill the necessary hole to accomodate the holding spring at the very bottom of the can. There shoudl be some directions with it that show the correct location to drill your hole.

Interesting that you guys say it's loud, I find it to be less loud than most.

we run them on the 1000's, maybe it's different on that sled.

On our sleds they were quieter than SW, and SLP, but not by much.

Biggest difference is the pitch, it seems to be notably lower which makes it seem quieter to me. (SW hurts my ears on a big pull on hard snow, SQ doesn't at all)

Agreed- what's "loud" to one person isn't necessarily loud to another. It'd be interesting to put a DB meter on it so you can get a true reading of what loud is. You won't be disappointed, let's put it that way!

i have a ultra q and a super q. i dont remember which one is which anymore but i ran the louder one for a season and it was LOUD. so loud it made my teeth hurt. but it sure sounded sweet! i put the quieter one on now and it was just right for the first couple seasons but now its gettin to be quite loud again...

I wonder if there is a big difference from unit to unit, I've had new ones each year & they don't seem loud to me. Funny I talk smack to folks with loud cans & everybody says the one I run is a loud one!!! (can you say hypocrite....:o)

Another thing, I've noticed that the Jaws on the M8 is MUCH quieter than the one on the M1000, I wonder if it's not the other way around on the super Q maybe? The super Q was the quietest one we've tested.

M8 Megatron----I assume you are adding a Super Q to the 2008 listed in your signature? (can't compare with the 2010 video posted---not the same engine or can design)

I found out by accident on my 2008 that the Super Q, even for the older sleds, has been redesigned and looks EXACTLY like the Ultra Q from the outside, just less baffles inside. Western Power Sports still has the OLD picture of the Super Q in their catalog, so I thought I was getting an Ultra Q and it would be too quiet. After talking directly with Skinz, I found out they redesigned the Super Q partially due to complaints that it was too loud. SO---I do not like the sound from the newly designed Super Q on my 2008...not loud enough. It's barely louder than stock and really doesn't have the high-pitched scream even at wide open. I was paying for good sound and weight savings, but only accomplished weight savings. The new Super Q is so close to stock sound, I can't imagine there being another step below this---the Utlra Q.

Yeah I just got it today and it looks like the ultra q and not like the picture as advertised. Its got the in and out on the same end with the box design. Oh well I will run it anyway. Full report on monday morning.

we run them on some of our M1000's and they have a good bite, BUT one guy in our crowd runs one on his m8 and it is REALLY LOUD, you can really tell where he is when he's riding... i put a 5 inch straight pipe on one of my cummins a few years ago , and it was loud, they next cummins i owned i put a 4 inch straight pipe!! that thing was so dang loud it was ridiculous! same idea i guess:D

Maybe I'm crazy here, but the skinz is the same general design as an MBRP (straight through with fiberglass packing around the outside, only difference I can see is the baffle in the end of the outlet. Anyone else notice this?

Just got back form two days of hard riding. The super q at idle is pretty dang quiet like the stocker. Once on the throttle its a bit more aggressive (deeper tone) sounding through the mid-range and on through the top. It is definately not stock sounding but far from being really loud. Its all good and seems to work well with the otherwise completely stock 08 M8 engine.

I had a super q last year for a little while before i put on my slp pipe setup. It was louder and much deeper at idle and very deep and rumbly up through the mid range. On the top end it had a very loud braaaaaaaap to it. It annoyed the people i was riding with so it isnt a quiet can by any means.
