Just bought an 09 assault and i have a few Q's

Hey guys just to let you know I am new to the sledding world. I have been riding quads and dirt bikes for years.
Anyway I bought an 2009 Assault this july. The sled is mint. it only has 1000 miles on it. it has a 155" track extension with the stock 155" Dragon track. The only other thing it has thats not stock is a mbrp can. It has a brand new short block with only 7 hours on it and a brand new primary. It is the 2010 update with the new mapping. Now reading all the horror stories about polaris pistons I decided to pull my e-valves for a look. I noticed some very minor scuffing or scratches on both pistons. When i say minor i mean like maybe 2-3 little scratch lines running down the skirt. both pistons were about the same amount. Is this normal?

Sorry if this has been addressed before. (i am sure it has) but i could not find my exact issue. If it is an issue.
Thanks a lot for any input guys!!

From what you've said and the history of these engines you probably in for trouble sooner than later. I'd pull the monoblock and get a better look at he pistons. Scuffed pistons in 7 hours is not uncommon. The scuffing is caused by pistons being out of spec too small in diameter and slapping the cylinder wall. This problem leads to piston skirts breaking off and taking out the cases. Getting pistons that fit is a must. Better yet is to get the PMS kit which fixes the piston diameter problem for those with stock pistons that are way too small. The kit also has a block shim and taller pistons that help fix the problem with the short pistons and the rod throw causing undo force on the cylinder walls. A power commander will help with the lean fuel issues.

09 Assault

Frisco Prox pretty much nailed it, but if you have a 2010 monoblock you can get away with 09 Wiseco pistons and a PCV controller, just make sure that the piston to cylinder clearance meets Wiseco's specs and you have a dealer install the 3.3 flash from late 2010. Jim from DynoTech can email you a good program for your setup if you subscribe to Dynotech.
