just bought a new gun....

XD's are very nice, planning on one of them for my next pistol whenever I get some spare $$ saved up.

SWEET! I was considering the same thing last year and should have bought 45ACP instead of my AR-15.

You buy the 3" sub compact?

I bought the 4" compact...carry the 10 rounder when concealed, and throw the 13 in for plinking. It shoots much better with the 13 (more stable). Have about 500 rounds through it now.

Mine wasn't shooting to point-of-aim when I got it. By my calculations it would take .060" of rear site movement to get it to. I beat on it and got it to move .030 then found a local guy to move it the rest of the way. Now it shoots great.

www.springerprecision.com He is actually local to me, but does almost all mail-order work. He does his own trigger setup which I will have in another month or so. It is very nice compared to the stock trigger. No slop, clean break, much less takeup and reset is much less too. I'm going to have him go through the gun, do the trigger, and put on a set of adjustable sights. Then it'll be a fun gun to shoot.

If you need work on your XD, give Scott a holler. I was very impressed with his work.

just got one myself, Ruger Vaquero in 45 Colt...

Ya cant go wrong with springfield... h ell of a lot better than the ol'outdated piece of junk that starts with a g and ends with a lock.. :D

The xd's are really nice for conc. carry.. but still love my 1911's

agreed, the 1911 is the AK47 of handguns... stone axe reliability and extremely effective...

edit - i used to carry one as a sidearm in the military... as an M60 machine gunner the 1911 A1 was my secondary weapon and I had to qualify with it annually... explain part of my proclivity toward the old 45acp

Fosgate, what kind of AR-15 did you buy? Mine is just a Bushmaster, accurate though.

I have an XD 40 with a 4" barrel, and I love it. I got it just after they came out, probably 6 or 7 years ago, and love it, but it comes in second to my 1911 as my favorite pistol to shoot. I also love my AR15, all sweet guns.

I have the XD 45 Tactical 5 inch in 45 acp. Fed over a 1000 rounds through it with out so much as a glitch. Awesome gun! Light and comfy. Thinking I need another just like it!

I bought the standard XD 45 in black. What an awsome handgun! It hits where Im looking. Got a stack of hi cap clips for it just incase the dems try to do the gun control BS again.

I gotta say it's a very solid gun. I personally like the Glocks a little better but that is where the personal preference comes into play. You deffinately will be happy with it though and you have better chances of winning the lotto than having functional problems with the XD.

I HATE GLocks! I can't hit my self in the foot with one. Last time in the desert I chose to carry a Hadji built M9 rather than the glock. Tough guns but I can't shoot them.

they can be an aquired taste. For me the Glock is a carry/defense gun only mainly due to it's durability gonna fire every time aspects. if I want to punch paper accurately or shoot a compettition I pull out the Beretta or a 1911.

Dont get me wrong.. glocks are great for some people.. but i have personally worked on tons of these things.. if you really start shooting them a lot they have bad problems..due to there design.. yes when they are new.. they are sandproof, waterresistant, etc.. however with the tolerances needed to accomplish this it cuts the life of the frame/slide down dramatically and i personally like to be able to hit what i'm shooting at

If a person just wants it to carry conc. for close conferations.. and not plink with it but a couple times a year.. they are ok at best.. for the price.. there are betting options IMO

Im no handgun sniper but I get both from my XD. OK, not comp shooting but I don't do that anymore anyway...... I need to hit a five gallon bucket at five feet, thats why I bought it. It's nice to be able to hit the gallon jug at 20 yards too thou...The XD fits me like a glove.

I got the wife one last year for home defense. I have one that is always in our room when I'm home, but it travels with me, so I got her one and outfitted it with a SureFire light (wanted to make sure she could positively ID me in the dark when coming home late).
The 1st time she shot it she cut down a beer can from 25 paces, free standing. I was pretty impressed with her and the pistol both! We have only shot a few boxes of shells each, but no problems so far.
