Just a thought... MAybe retarded but it was a long day and I am pissed when I am struggling to make payments and the state DOT is driving brand new equip and trucks and BS and don't blink about raising taxes instead of cutting back like we do so....
Welfare checks: To get one you must pass a drug test. Randoms. You must eaither show proof of employment or do volunteer work at a rescue mission soup kitchen etc. Over five kids no check( well maybe a reality check and a box of condoms(guy or girl)). If you haven't had a job in five years and have no medical reason no check. If you are sick as a dog from smoking a pack a day and drinking a fifth a whiskey every day no medicare/caid. I am sorry I'm not a heartless prick but I bust my hump day in and day out. I don't mind doing my part and have read and know that Jesus said "Give to Ceasar what is Ceasar's." But that doesn't mean that I can't stand up for what I beleive in. I am tired of being a stepping stone for someone who couldn't give two shakes about what they accomplish in their lives. I have very good freind and one of the most generous people I know. She said I beleive in social programs. i want to help people that is why I became a teacher. Well I agree helping people is the reason I am going into that feild as well. But i beleive that the only way to truly help someone do something is to make them do it themselves. Why does prison have over a 75% failure rate. B/c most of them do not want to be helped. So ok I do my part but don't look down on me or act like you are better just b/c you want to give your money to the gov. I think I can better decide how to spend what I earn than some politician or crackhead on welfare can. :moon::face-icon-small-sad

I am working on a teaching degree. I don't however beleive that social programs work. The education system needs some big reforms starting at the top down. That being said there are some great people that come out of our schools and work in them so not everything they are doing is bad.

hell.. vote CCOLEMAN77 for the next election..

americans voted obama in.. you have just as good as chance..

:eek:.. hahahaha

No.. I definatly agree with you there is some bad problems that need to be taken care of.. however.. hard to get people convinced when there is so many people that are getting fat off of the way the current system is ran... as in most social issues...

Couple thoughts.

Your on welfare for more than one year, you lose your right to vote until you've worked 6 months straight. And, you can't run for office.

No more seasonal unemployment checks.

Legalize Marie Jane, put a proof sticker on it, tax it, and poison all hard drugs, and shoot anyone caught pushing drugs.

After two years on welfare, you are at the mercy of the publicly financed charitable help. Otherwise, report for street sweeping and rock polishing, government welfare jobs

Hospitals can not charge customer for service that they did not use. But, also expand free public health clinics.

That would certainly get rid of the "I'll vote for you because you'll give me more money" situation but restricting people from voting is not American.

agreed...

Hard work is also one of the only things that can really help our ecomony in its time.. hard thing to do with little jobs out there.. but sitting around waiting for a check with get us no where..

You know another great money saving venture for the U.S. would to also take away the money given to:

Native americans (it only goes to drugs and booze anyways:rolleyes:)
Foreign Students (for a few countries it costs a person nothing to come to american and have up to 8 years of free college from the government)

reading this thread just gave me a great idea on how the government can reduce crime - legalize pot but only for criminals. Make sure they get the real strong stuff, guarantteed to put them on thier arse for a day or two at a time.

Pretty soon, they will lack the ambition to actually steal stuff.

do you think we could get the slightly hispanic illegals to build us a wall before we throw them over? Oh yeah one more thing make it illegal for men to wear them kilt skirt things except at Scottish fests, and completely outlaw them bicycle spandex man panty hose. this crap just promotes the wussification of America!

I never said it was. I see your point and I agree it's not American but neither is denying people their right to vote.

Although I agree that limiting people's right to vote is "un-American". I believe that habitually subsisting upon welfare, is not in accordance with the actions of a "citizen".

You don't attack their right to vote, you attack their right to citizenship.

14th amendment.

Your right to vote can be rejected due to:
- imprisoned for a felony (most states)
- convicted for a felony (in some states)

Loss of citizenship can be due to:
- naturalization in a foreign state.
- service in a foreign army.
- voting in a foreign political race.
- Taking an oath to a foreign state or its political subdivisions;
- Taking employment with a foreign government.
- willful acts over the age of 18 with the intention of relinquishing United States nationality (U.S. Code Title 8, 1481)
- renounced citizenship for purposes of avoiding U.S. taxation (Internal Revenue Code, section 877)
- conviction of an act of Treason.

Also:
Citizenship status, under social contract theory, carries with it both rights and responsibilities. "Active citizenship" is the philosophy that citizens should work towards the betterment of their community through economic participation, public service, volunteer work, and other such efforts to improve life for all citizens.

There's lots of reasons a person can lose their citizenship, and/or their right to vote. Willfully avoiding taxation is one of them. Are generational welfare recipients not, "avoiding taxation"?

We've got to do something, to stop the expansion of the welfare voting block. Or, this country can not last.

I won't argue whether Tyler wrote it, but I believe the premise.
A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From Bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.

This is what I believe needs to be stopped.

I think it is incredible that people can pass through and vote in elections without knowing a thing about a candidates thoughts, beleifs feelings. That is not an American right. The right is to vote. A responsibility of voting is knowing the facts. BO would have never been elected if people would have known what they were voting for

The other thing I feel is needed is term limits in the senate/congress I just think corruption brews in those places and without a way to get the old blood out we'll never have new thoughts. And obviously they aren't doing their job or we wouldn't be where we are.
