Fairview first week in June.

Still a ton of snow to be had out there.

And yes that is a real picture of a deer at the bottom of the cornis.
You can stack 16 deer on top of each other to get to the top of it.
I think that deer is confused on how much snow is still up there.

that pic with the deer almost seems photo shopped, There is a ton of snow up there and one deer that has lost it's mind :)

That last photo is really cool!

The snow does not look rotten at all, nice

Snow was awesome. Not rotten at all. Best June Ride I have ever had.

Dropping that Cornice over the Deer would have been the Chit!!!:face-icon-small-ton

Dropping that cornice would have hurt like Chit too. :face-icon-small-hap
I have dropped those about 15 feet tall and landed 100 feet from the edge down the hill, but dropping a 64 foot cornice would be one heck of a fall. Dan G or Phatty you up to the challange?
I sure am not. My back wouldnt be able to take it.

Ya it is hard picture to believe and I would not have believed it if I wasn't there and saw it with my own eyes. I was going to ride up to get a closer look and video but seeing where that huge break and slide had come down just to the left of where the deer was i decided to stay at the bottom to get the pics.

Not a problem at all. You could go down any south face you wanted to. It might have dropped a foot or so by now but I would say you wont have a problem with the south faces for at least another week or tw, maybe three. Then you might have to get creative to get down the other side. I would say though you would be fine this weekend for sure.

You can see the south facing slope in this picture. It is the first hill back from the parking lot.

i would huck it over that deer just for the picture! It would be worth it! haha

NO DOUBT it's TALL!!!!! But a 64' measurement seems a little high.

I don't think you are seeing 4 feet of height on that deer.
I am not sure that cornice is 64 feet tall.

It's an awesome picture though. VERY cool.

You're stacking the legs onto the deer's back...so from what leg is there and the rib cage...your measuring stick is about 2.5 feet. If you counted the full heigh wth the neck and ears, you MIGHT have 4'.
I'm going for 16 x 2.5 = 40'. :)

ok so it may not be quite 4 feet. I am no deer expert but this was a pretty big deer. It was no bambi deer. Still at 40 + feet thats a big cornice.

Yeah, no doubt...it's a HUGE cornice. And it's a great picture.

What did the deer do? Just hang out and stroll along?

He just stood there and watched us. He never went anywhere while we were there. Just looked around. I think he must have been sick of the wind so he went up there to hang out for a while.

Animals CAN be smart, eh. But then again standing under that cornice....

I remember in about 1997 or 98 down in Hailey, Idaho reading about the deer that got swept off the mountain down into the city park in an avalanche. Pictures were in the newspaper of legs sticking out of the debris pile. Once the spring melt came everyone's dogs were over there all the time chewing on the deer. LMAO

LOL I will go up there this weekend and see if he got burried or not.

Here are a couple photos in that same spot as the first 2 pictures on July 4th and 16th 2005
