Jumping ship to a Pro. What do look for?

Hey guys, I bleed green. Love my '10 M8. But, every year at this time I get a new sled. Nervous about the '12 model, could be awesome or could be a flop. Sounds like I have my M8 with 1500 miles on it sold for $7800, and have a line on a Pro with 290 miles on it for $9700 with a lefty throttle-don't need, and a skid plate. From what I gather, the Pro's need venting. I don't know if I'll be looking for a can since they only save a few pounds-not 16 like the Cats. The best part about these things is they don't need a bunch of aftermarket stuff. So far I'm thinking a Mountain addiction gas rack, venting-2cool? and gas and oil. What do you think?

i added vents to both of my pros, and they flat out rip, you wont be disappointed, i sold my 2010 m8,was arctic cat for 10 years, but dont regret it after riding a pro! ENJOY!

I changed out the suspension and put on a Team Tied. Good setup. You are right that you don't have to do much. Try and get good fuel so that you can run the non-ethanol plug. It makes a difference.

Saw one in salt lake 600 miles 9 grand. Might be worth the drive for you to save 700. Also saw one with 120 miles for 9,500. Both on ksl. Good luck!

YEP. About 150-200 rpms in mine running ethanal. Also the rear bottoms out pretty bad if you have to trail ride in the big whops. If I tighten the rear shock afriad I will lose flickadlity. Other than that GREAT sled. FUN to ride. Also really good on gas and oil.

If I run 91 octane here in town and ride 8-10k feet, can I run eth plug in or plug out? *Still learning Poo's for sure. Also, what clutch weights should I be running, and can I run the same weights in Island Park? I think it's a little lower there.

As long as the pump you are using does not say 10% ethonal you don't need the plug. Been dealing with that since 05 in the midwest. Blew up a big bore the hard way!

Funny! I blew mine after filling up at Kwik Trip in Byron on my way to Stewartville. I talked to them about it pretty much told me where to go! Lesson learned for me. That was about 6 yrs ago.

I run my non-ethanol plug with ethanol fuel as long as I'm at 10k or above. The sled runs richer at those elevations anyway. I also make sure I use marine grade fuel treatment. It doesn't get rid of the ethanol (nothing really does) but it keeps the water/condensation dispersed (in theory).

As far as clutching, you will have to change your weights if your elevation changes a lot. The good thing about the Pro is that the mid range is so strong that it doesn't fall off as fast as the D8 did. I run 60's at 9-11K. I would like to grind them down to 59's to over rev a little down low so I pull on the hills up high. My weights came in at a very consistant 60.5 on all three.

I need to look where my Team Tied helix is set for those that asked. I forgot which setting I chose.

There are 2 plugs. One for ethanol another for non ethanol. They both come with the sled

I have been thinking really hard about getting the tied set up to have better rpm's on longer pulls, Team Ind. had a thread about the kit they were selling and I think I may do it:face-icon-small-hap

did you go with what they recommended?

Yep, I bought the kit from Team. I'm very happy with it. The most noticeable difference is the smooth back shift. It's hard to compare the track speed and clutch temps unless you were in an ideal testing/comparing environment. RPM's seem to hold well, but whose to say how much difference there is over the TSS-04? I might sound like I don't see improvement, but I do. I'm glad I did it.

Actually it has a little decal on the gas tank that states 10% ethanol and any other gas below 91 octane that doesn't have ethanol to run the ethanol plug. and for 91 octane and above, to run the non ethanol resistor. I think it should just be called the premium resister instead of non ethanol one.

Uncle Rick already has the clutching figured out for you. You get the Poo and I'll tell you what you need for weights, gears, helix and springs. It will be 1/2 a sled length behind mine all day long. LOL.

Ethenol fuel

I was told by a fuel delivery driver in Wyoming that begining in spring (June I think) all fuel will contain 10% ethenol per new laws. As of now any fuel coming from refineries in Wyoming and maybe Montana have less than 5%.
I can't get a handle on this either and have been running the ethenol plug all the time. I wish I knew for sure if higher elevation would alow to run the non-ethenol plug.

On a new topic, I'm digging those 2cool vents with the pro rmk emblem on them. I think I'll go with a pair of them, and I'm leaning toward zbroz a arms if I could ever get them, mountain addiction 3.3 gallon gas can, and a team tied secondary... what do we think?

I will tell you what I think of the Team Tied secondary next week, I ordered one yesterday and hoping to have it by next week to compare with a few other setups
