Joel Stave signs with Vikings!

Interesting signing. I watched him play a few times, and it was hard to get a read on him. Especially with such a run heavy offense. I know 2 things though! He has a much better arm than Teddy, and he won't have to wear gloves to be able to grip the football....:face-icon-small-sad

And the elephant in the room was the fact that we had zero depth in the QB position.
If Teddy got hurt, we were screwed!

I believe Shaun Hill is still on the roster, and i'd guess he will remain the #2 for a while until Stave is more comfortable, if that ever happens. Honestly I don't see much of a drop-off from Teddy to Shaun Hill, especially outdoors. Hopefully that changes this year, I just don't think he'll ever be better than average. Doesn't have the arm or the body for it.

If needed I don't see Hill carrying the team through post season.
In this era, I believe you need a starter quality QB as a back-up, and an elite QB as a starter.
Is Bridgewater elite? No. Will he evolve into one? Of course that's the hope, but I think you need to already be looking for that next magic in a bottle.
Odds are against it every time, but if you aren't looking, you are guaranteed to not find it.
I think it is just as likely to find this success through an undrafted FA as a first round pick. (compare Warner & Manzeil)

I would be willing to bet that Stave will be a starting QB in the NFL at some point.
