jetting for Boysen reeds

I put on a set of Boysen reeds on 08 XP 800 and it says to jet down 3-4 jet sizes and so I did but what I'm scared about its burning up my sled. How do I know if I'm running super lean or kind of lean , I checked my plugs and they look white not cardboard colored like they say its supposed to be. I would look at the piston wash but I can't get in to see. Here are some pics of my plugs.

I would have stayed at what you had in it before you put them in and then adjusted if needed, unless you were rich before then I would have dropped one size down

If anything the reeds will give you more air=more fuel. I can't believe they would say jet down 4 sizes. If the engine didn't have a detonation sensor it would most certainly melt. With the det sensor working it would be retarding your timing and giving you less hp. put the stock jets back in.

I installed Rage Cages into my 700 this year and the intructions recommend jetting down a little bit. I haven't jetted down yet, as I will see how it performs stock. I would also say put the stock jets back in it, then see if you need to change partway through the season. It is better to have too much fuel than not enough.

thanks for the info . I jetted it back as soon as I checked it after a long pull but they still seam lean. I'm going to put on EGT's as soon as I get my SLP pipe ,can , and y-pipe.
