I went up and rode the Georgia Pass area again today. Conditions are amazing... First part of the ride I went from the parking lot (on the Breck. side) up the groomed trail to Georgia Pass. I tore up the pass... Big time! No trax except for mine all day! I rode down the trail to the Jefferson side. The snow was deep, fluff and lots of great drifts to bust through (coming over the hood deep!)
Did a few off trail adventures then back up Georgia Pass and through the woods to the N.Fork of the Swan. Headed off trail and took it slow. Deep snow, most of the bumps were filled in but the avy danger is way,way high... Once I made it out of the woods and got to the open area, the 1st avy path on the left is well loaded and ready to bust any day. All of the slide area's on the left side of the valley are very sketchy and look like they could go at any time.
Got to the back bowls, looked around and did not like what I saw. All the way around was the same. Huge cornices, lots of potential danger. I wanted to do the climb up & over to Keystone but it was snowing very hard, visability was nill and I was not about to bust through the cornice at the top of the climb. Looks real nasty. I would seriously give it a day or two and let it slide on it's own. A lot of snow has fallen in the valley.
Back out of the valley and one more loop. Went back up to Georgia to mess around and do some boondocking. Mistake! I managed to hit something at the bottom of Georgia... Broke the left front shock and lost my spring! WTF?!!! When I stopped, I sank... Deep... All I can say is, look out for the open grave I had to dig to get out! All 166" of my track was heading to China!
Get out and rip it up! Just be careful with the avy danger...
