Jackson Hole Amsoil Snocross possibly cancelled?

They would have been very naive to not allow this event to happen. Ski season doesn't really get rolling till the weekend before Xmas and it will bring very welcomed $$$ to a weekend that normally would see off-season revenue because it falls right after thanksgiving and most end up staying at home until Xmas.

I'm REALLY excited that this event is happening. Snocross has been dead in the west for many years now and I hope this gets things rolling again.

Anyone else plan on racing here or the weekend before at Duluth?

There is a new snocross circuit called InterMountain Racing "IMR" and I've been watching hoping to see numbers grow so if I go race I'm not the only adult out there racing. Check out their schedule and spread the word, lets race! https://www.imrsnocross.com/schedule/

After reading a lot of the submitted emails the ISOC should find a different location. Bunch of nose in the air Aspen wannabes. One local actually referred to Aspen as he thought they needed to be competing with them & they wouldn't allow such a event to be held let alone two snowmobile events. That and they already put up with one noisy disruptive snowmobile event already, the hill climb. One weekend a year is not going to ruin your life JH locals! This reminds me of the idiots that built houses next to Laguna Seca Raceway in California and complain about the noise. You built your house next to a racetrack morons! I think W. Yellowstone would be a great location for this race.

I was born and raised in JH. Lived there from fall, 1965 to to summer, 1987. My mom still lives in the house we grew up in on Teton Pass a mile west of Wilson. We were able to ride the old pass road up into Phillips Canyon until the grouchy old caretaker from Trail Creek Ranch got the lower section closed to snowmobiles in the mid 1980s...the lower section being from the new pass road to the first kelly hump/tank trap. The entire road is now non-motorized year-around.

To say the valley has changed since then would be a huge understatement. The wealthy have pushed the locals over Teton Pass into Victor, Driggs and other parts of Teton Valley, and into Alpine/Star Valley, WY. Wyoming is a great tax haven for the rich because of no state income tax. The huge, rapid influx of $$ into JH, the lack of private property in the county, combined with it becoming a huge extreme sport/outdoor recreation destination has turned Teton County, WY into the only "blue" county in the state. I could go on and on about what's changed and why.

Given the current socioeconomic climate of the town, it was a huge success to get this event approved in the location it will take place. If you think the hill climbs haven't changed since their inception 40+ years ago, you are sadly mistaken. Change is a part of life so you have to work with it instead of living off wishful thinking. The event organizers were impressive in working out compromises with the city government to get it approved. They agreed to shorten racing times and alcohol sales times, and that's about it. No one will be adversely affected by these compromises. In no uncertain terms, it's a win-win.

We are seeing the same thing here in Bend, Oregon, I'm out of here soon.

By shorten race times does that mean shorter or less heats? Do you know the specifics?

This is a pretty big win for the sno-X community, Jackson, and snowmobiling altogether. Thanks for everyone that took the extra time to support keeping this event alive!
