I've sure seen a lot of this going on!

I agree that snowmobiliers as a group are our own worst enemy. Whether regarding environmental or safety (avalanche, etc) issues, we generally do the majority of the political damage to ourselves. I agree with bolstering sledders to be more proactive, however, you've picked a very strange target. I would find it much more logical to go after enviro-issues more directly related to our sport. For example, cat skiing and heli-skiing both involve copius use of fossil fuels for transporation to/from remote lodges and power generation on site. Not green by any measure, however, these guys beat us up in the media all winter. Why? Because they're organized and learned how to whine loud a long time ago. They keep (or at least portray) themselves that one notch cleaner and safer.....they don't have to be perfect; just slightly less unruly than us.

So, while I see what you're getting at....I don't think we're there yet. Until we can comfortably go toe to toe with easy targets like that, the ones proposed in this thread are out of our scope. IMO....just sayin

Well put, I'm assuming you're the former snowboarder? Off topic, but about avalanches.....remember Craig Kelly's death while on a holier than thou ACMG course? That got buried pretty quick by the media. Sledders definitely get a bad wrap, avalanches don't discriminate, its the media that does.

Whining about any other backcountry recreational activities is a waste of time, we are all on the same team, unfortunately the other user groups need to recognize this. The information about SAG needs to be discussed, the media isn't doing its job and for obvious reasons when you look at their funding apparatus.
