It's about time...If Yam won't built it than Cat better.

Owen I am not talking a BIG weight loss...

The ski-doo 1200 renegade has a CLAIMED dry weight of 519lbs. So probably add 20lbs to that number to get the actual dry weight of the sled and you are right around 540lbs dry. Now, ski-doo's 800R renegade is listed at 443lbs while their 154 Summit is listed at 446lbs. Applying that math to the 4stroker and you have a sled right around the 540lb dry mark.

With the new M8 being within striking distance of the Summit as far as weight with a chassis that is 3 years older (05 M7 vs 08 XP), I feel when Cat does bring out its new mountain chassis that will be able to carry the Turbo 4-stroke, 520lbs dry is not out of reach.

Good comparisons!

This is a good point! I hope Cat or Doo build the light weight 4 stroke turbo or supercharged MOuntain sled as it would be a grea light weight 4 stroke version....as for Polaris and Yamaha....well....lightweight is not in the cards for them...never has been compared to the other two. Yamaha needs to change the goal....be the best or not.....weight is a key factor in this equation! Frostbite is right....no matter how you slice it that heavy nose it hard to over come.......maybe thinking outside the box and creating a tunnel with the gas tank integrated and mainly to the rear.....2" compartment to the tail of the sled.....something different to change the weight on the ski's and make a flickable 4 stroke. It will eventually happen .....evolution of the species just like MX bikes.......just takes time. Hell 4 years ago you would have had more guys on this thread hating on the "worthless" Heavy.... yadda yadda yadda 4 stroke....now everyone is talking about them in a positive light.
2011 will hopefully give us a glimpse at the future of sledding!:D With the great Obama in office 2 strokes don't have many years left!

Flickable cannot be used as a four-stroke term 'ever' !

The M-1000 ''is'' dead.

I guess 150hp at 1,000' = about 120hp at 9,000' Also I here now that the boosted Yam don't have the ability to compensate for altitude and the Cat turbo does.

ziturbo ext proto

I decided to be the ginny-pig up here and ordered the turbo ext 162". With the speedwerx can, I have 185 real hp, and with the hijacker box I can run 220 pump gas, or press a few buttons and I have 280 with 112 octane. I am coming from a tapex that had a 174x16x3" camo extreme and a turbo, so I should be able to get a pretty accurate feeling for the two. We are still waiting for snow here, though. If nothing else, not many will have another one like mine, unlike the yammi crowd!!!!!! Thanks

800vs.1000..........

I'd like to see the whole story on the HP numbers. I'll bet the 800 doesn't have near the torque as the 1000. You can make HP numbers anything you want, don't all of the manufacturers advrtise "150" HP or somthing within a few HP of it. You cant tell me that my fathers old summit X and my kingcat are close, but the HP numbers aren't far off. Try a 500 HP small block against a 500 HP big block. Or even better yet, a 310 HP gas pickup against a 310 HP diesel truck. Do they pull the same? I think not! I'll buy a 1000 over a 800 anyday. Good Luck trying to figure out what the manufacturers will do in the future. -00's

The MCX kits have an automatic altitude compensator. It can be easily bypassed to a manual controller if you prefer but all the kits have it. Many of the other turbo kits don't have it but the MCX does.
