Issues with Axys aluminum a-arms

Do we even know if the spindles are powder coated or painted? If they are PC then it is the cheapest job I've ever seen. All of my edge are already down to aluminum.

I agree, I'm pretty sure they're just painted. Quite sure the tunnels are painted as well as I can see the spray marks from the paint job.

I slightly bent a spindle on a 2012 Pro once, otherwise never had issues with spindles although I did replace a few A-Arms here and there. The fact that spindles are now breaking concerns me. I know we need something to give but we don't need things bending and breaking too easily. I'm still glad I bought the Zbros A-Arms, just hope we don't break a spindle.

So just until the snow is better, I put a set of 2014 lowers on my 2016. The plastic bushings from the 14 need a little trimming to clear the mounting nuts but other than that they fit right on.

Got the thought and will try putting some washers under the A-Arm pins to lift them away from the bulkhead slightly to give those bushings more clearance.

replacing arm on my buddy’s sled today.

anyone know the torque specs for the bolts?

thanks

Stock arm bent, lower rear bowed down a couple of inches. No other damage. Impact was enough to throw me off the sled. Low speed <15 mph, carbide caught embedded rock while going around a corner on the trail.

Heated and straightened that arm, re-fitted. Rode a couple of days no problem. Attempted a creek crossing, stuffed it into the bank, fell off, re-bent arm in the same spot.

Second heat and bend caused a substantial crack to develop in the arm. Replaced with new stock arm.

Sled has about 15 hrs of ride time / ~180 miles now. I am six rides in.

Stronger and lighter solution to those broken spindles coming soon...:face-icon-small-hap

Bent my third lower arm today... Not buying the early season excuse anymore either. I had two Pros with glued a-arms riding the exact same places in the same conditions, or worse and in two years and 2500 miles I never had to replace an a-arm. I am looking at number three in about 200 miles.

The designed in weak spot is pathetic, the arms are not strong enough, end of story for me. Very disappointing to have to replace the front suspension on a new $13k machine because it can't take any impact at all.

Axys aluminum a-arms

Thought I would share a quick pic of the ZRP offset billet spindles. I got them from PES (on the forum, awesome guy).

These are the 2" offset ones, not the ones posted above by ZRP that appear to be non-offset

These are great. U do have to cut off a tiny section to clear the zbroz arms so the spindle doesn't hit at full extension. But turning radius is awesome, super tight.

Steve walks warily down the street
With the brim pulled way down low
Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet
Machine guns ready to go
Are you ready? Hey are you ready for this?
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat?
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust

Hey, I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust
How do you think I'm going to get along
Without you, when you're gone
You took me for everything that I had
And kicked me out on my own
Are you happy, are you satisfied?
How long can you stand the heat
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat

Another one bites the dust

Lost the ski rubber

Stretched the outside mounting hole, that is a first for me!

Pretty ridiculous. I ordered the Alt Impact 36" kit with 4 spare heim joints and will keep the stockers as spares.

I am going to let my dealer know what I think of this and lodge my complaint with Polaris "customer service" today.

I think that as consumers we need to let them know we have found an issue with their design...

By the look of the design, it is doing exactly what Polaris wants it to do.
