Island Park / West Yellowstone Riding Conditions for 2024-2025

Season 2, Episode 6: SnoWest On the Mountain, In the Snow!
Finally the snow we have been waiting for arrived and today it was DEEP and PLENTIFUL, by far and away the best snow so far this season.

I will be down near the red rock parking area... Staying in a cabin down that way. I will have some inexperienced riders with me, myself, i have only been riding for 2 seasons.

Point me in a direction if you can.

My first thought was head up twin creek to two top trail and see what we get into and my gut says there's a lot of flatter meadows off the sawtelle trail.

Sound like a plan?

We are also back country skiers was checking out lion head ski area, everything is under 28° slope angle according to onX.

Thanks and have a good long weekend.

If this question isn't allowed in the conditions thread please tell me I will delete.

Flying in to Bozeman Thursday 23 12:30. What’s better route to island park 191 or 287. Was thinking 191 on way in and take 287 on way back. Renting a 4wd wagoneer.
It doesn't seem to matter to me.. gps always tells me 287 but I think 191 is more scenic. Unless you have a reason to check out Ennis

If you want to get there quick, pulling a trailer, driving in the snow or dark take i90 to hwy 287 all the way. Its the fastest. just pay a little extra attention the first 5 mi on 287 as the road is narrower but quickley widens out.

if the weather is nice, sunny and have patience for slow drivers take 191

I webt down your guys way last weekend. My mind was blown away by the sheer size. You can ride st Anthony almost Rexburg to big sky (little bear with some finagling). That's a decent trip by car...

Rode today around far end of Black Canyon loop & found some decent snow. Had another group say Trestle was good. No idea were that’s located. Not sure we’re we are going tomorrow.
