Trails are my highway to destinations. You don’t realize how truly rare it is for me to ride any trail anywhere.
AT EIGHT THOUSAND FEET????????My wife went with some people to Black Canyon area today. She just texted me saying it is currently raining
Yep, it was snow when they left from West Yellowstone, and turned to rain as they headed South/West. Rode in rain most of the morning and at some point early afternoon it finally turned to snow. She said there's an icy crust on top of everything.AT EIGHT THOUSAND FEET????????
Black Bear is reporting 73" snow depth and a temp of 26.8 degree2
Should not be seeing rain
I am REALLY surprised that the Snotel site didn't get HAMMERED from the rain??Yep, it was snow when they left from West Yellowstone, and turned to rain as they headed South/West. Rode in rain most of the morning and at some point early afternoon it finally turned to snow. She said there's an icy crust on top of everything.
Yeah i checked it last night and there was no sign of rain, got up to 30 degrees there.I am REALLY surprised that the Snotel site didn't get HAMMERED from the rain??
I would have thought that the moment it turned from Snowing to Raining, that we would see a DROP in over all depth.I run the snotel route for IGWA and my local canal company occasionally for our drainage when one of the regulars is unable. Likely the only readable sign would be the snow getting more dense, which is a monthly manual reading and that results in a lowering of snow level, which is offset by increase from new snowfall.
Meaning actual fresh is likely more than fresh reading at the sight.
