Island Park Snow conditions 07/08

Just got back 2/24

Ditto what Adrenaline Junkie said. Esp the fence post part!

We did a quick 3 day trip and stayed at Eagle Ridge. Jefferson was a super highway - whooped trail up to the base. They need fresh snow up there. Good news is it was snowing pretty steady when we left Sunday (why does it always snow the best when you're leaving!?)

You can find find freshies if you stay away from the beaten path/groomers.

TIP OF THE MONTH. Eat at BOONDOCKERS - just west of the Stamp Meadows/Shotgun Trail on Yale Kilgore. Awesome $7.00 steak sandwich and rest of the menu looks good too!

Just got back on the 23rd from IP and we had a blast but everything was pretty tracked up by the end of the week. Needed more snow but still had a great time. There were tons of people there over the holiday weekend so I think next year we'll head out there on the week before Pres day like we did last year. We did manage to find some untracked or at least not completely tracked stuff nearly every day but we had to look hard for it.

Rode kinda by School House the 23rd and didn't see one single rider that wasn't in our group the whole ride until we hit the trial. for me it was the best ride of the year, found some decent powder to play it, and some fun cornices to shoot off.

SECOND TIP OF THE MONTH-if you find yourself on Elk Lake make sure you stop and eat at the little place there. didn't catch the name (dont know how i missed it) but its very good food, very good!

Its been snowing here in Rexburg off and on for the past 2 days..all been headin up north!

Gas prices

8 of us are going to island Park next week, what are the gas prices around there,I have a 100 gal. slipe tank I could fill up. Hope the snow is good.;)

Snow?

How are the conditions around IP. i hear there is a lot of snow, but noone says much about the conditions. i am coming out on the 15th and riding for the week. hopefully the snow is good

Which creek bed???

Heading to island park in a week, someone a while back posted a GPS mapped route up into the Mt. Jefferson/Sawtelle area. It ran a route that would be in the vicinity of island park village but of course across 20 and just to the south of sawtelle peak. Weve been into jefferson via blue creek, willow creek, and by red rocks pass up the waterfalls. But were staying at the village so just wanted to see if there was a shortcut in that was closer??

Conditions are great. Lots of fresh powder 2 nights ago. We spent a whole day up in blue creek, and then running the powerline by Elk Creek. We did lions head today, it was pretty tracked up. 2 days left.

Just got back yesterday from IP. Fresh 8" tuesday morning 18" to 24" up high. It was are last day of riding and it was great. Lots of big drift busting up top great fun.

Any current reports - would like to get one more ride in up there at the end of the week.

Rode Saturday on the lower east side. Snow was awesome. Clear day in the 30's. I rode in a sweatshirt and tekvest the whole day. Tops of fence posts starting to stick through. Still plenty of snow.

I was told that grooming is over for the season. If so the trails will go to crap by midweek with the warm temps.
