I beleave ya can have up to 5 without the extra permit while ice fishing atleast thats the rules i been going by whats your take on it http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/cms/fish/rules/definitions.pdf

..I've always thought it was 5... But in my opinion 2-3 poles is more than enough.. Me & a buddy have fished palisades with 5 apiece & it was just too much of a hassle to keep the holes cleaned out & the eyelets thawed out

take 2 poles, one for a backup
group your holes together so you can bs all day and have fun, fishing with 5 poles would be stupid IMO

We were planning on bringing a couple of tip ups.

We called a guy in IF? at the Sportsmans warehouse, and he was telling me that the ice was nearly 3 feet thick!

The auger will get a workout I bet! I never measured the auger length, is it 3'?

wow thats some thick ice
most are around 38 to 42 some are even adjustable.

I've seen it that thick.. It wouldn't surprise me.. Yer auger will handle 3ft. of ice...should anyway. Make sure you keep the motor from mixin' it up with the ice hole mess when yer drillin''.. you will be hunchin' over to get it through the ice though.. Who'd you talk to at sportsman's? Was it Brandon? He knows his chit.. trust him
