Is this normal?

So I just went for the first quick run in the ditches on my new to me '07 Summit X. Whenever I would punch it it would overrev to what looked like almost 8000 then drop back down to 7200. I never seen this on my other sleds and just curious as this is my first Skidoo. It has the '08 motor and I'm told updated clutches.

8000 isnt over rev, 8150 is where the peak HP is on these motors, sounds like an issue though

8150 is peak hp? I thought I seen around 7300 was peak for these motors. That makes sense though because it had alot more pull when it would hit 8000.

i would take your clutches off and take them apart and look for worn parts mine did that last year when climbing revs would be up then down then up then down i did not know alot about them and the next few rides going along the trail and everything blew apart in the primary clutch although my crank went to but it is better to be safe then sorry
