Is this a fuel pump issue?

My sled just started to have a intermittent low idle.

It will be running fine at 1250 - 1300 rpm's , then it will drop down to 800 - 900 rpm's. When it drops, I'm hearing a small metallic "clicking" noise coming from under the steering hoop area. Due to its proximity to the sound and the fact there are no moving parts under the hoop, I'm assuming it's the fuel pump.

Any thoughts??

is there a relay under there that is clicking off and on?

That's kind of what it sounded like, but I couldn't tell where.
How many relays are under there? Are you talking down by the ECU or in the harness area around the steering hoop?

I have the side panel off mine so I just went and looked, and the only thing I see right next to the steering hoop is the Exhaust valve solenoid, and the coils.

I have a small section of hose connected to the solenoid that is capped, from when I also capped my exhaust valves individually.
I took the hose off and the noise continued.
Should this hose be capped of left to vent to atmosphere?

not sure, but if it is not connected to anything it shouldn't be changing how the engine is running, unless you are getting an engine code and the ECU is changing something which I doubt.

ECU sits right down there too.

is it running badly besides the erratic idling?

Nope, it runs great
I noticed the drop in idle at about mid way thru our last ride and then again when I starter her up to load up tonight.
On the mountain, she runs awesome.

I AGREE WITH BIGGDAWG. HAVE SEEN ALOT OF TP SENSOR SETTINGS TO LOW AFTER ALOT OF USE CAUSING A LOW IDLE ISSUE. THE RELAYS ARE PART OF THE ECU AND ARE CLICKING BECAUSE CHASSIS VOLTAGE IS DROPPING TO LOW TO SUPPORT LIFE OF MACHINE MOST LIKELY. HAVE TP SETTING ADJUSTED AND ALSO HAVE STATOR CHECKED OUT FOR PROPER OUTPUT. HAVE SEEN WEAK STATOR CAUSE POOR IDLE (LOW VOLTAGE) AT LOW RPMS.

Gonna agree with these guys, sounds like the TPS got bumped... a Friends assault was showing the exact same symptoms and it was just the tps got bumped.... considering how sensitive these things are to tps adjustment, I would check there first... And yes, the chassis power relay kicks on/of at about 800-900 RPM, below that the stator does not kick out enough power to keep everything running so it shuts off all accessory power and sends everything it has to keep the motor running.
