One question I have is mileage. My sleds and 2 stroke quads get around 8 to 10 mpg. Do 4 strokes get better mileage?
Also heard 4 strokes have more torque where 2 strokes have more HP relatively? Do sleds need torque and/or HP like wheeled vehicles or is the setup different for powder applications?
Doo's new DFI600 gets a claimed 25mpg, which is better than any four stroke sled on the market. Even their SDI600 gets better mileage than some of the performance 4-strokers. That efficiency means less hydrocarbons going out the exhaust, which is why they will have no trouble meeting the 2010 EPA limits.
Torque and horsepower are not 2 separate types of power. Dynos don't even measure horsepower, they measure torque. Horsepower is simply a mathematical computation of torque and RPM. Try this out: http://www.largiader.com/articles/torque.html
Some four strokes make more torque at a lower RPM than twos, but that's not always true. Some of the newer twins have very good low-end torque....as much as anyone could need.
