Is Monte road rideable or not?

Snotel reports 25" new as of 10am today at Monte!!! My question is is the road getting plowed? If so where else in that area can a guy get out and burn last years fuel out and enjoy some crisp mtn air at 60mph on a good road?

Thanks, MC

25"

I've been up there on 25" before. You can definitely at least go ride some of the dirt roads (assuming you can properly follow them) and avoid hitting stuff by staying on the dirt roads. Lightning ridge, dry bread pond, etc.

30" on the snotel as of this morning!!!!! More on the way!!!!! Now this is what I call a good start!!!! Hopefully the storms stack up and we don't get the long dryspell. (Sorry I shouldn't have even said that, going to jinx it).

:bounce:

Thanks @slednshred!! Did you guys park and unload in the big parking lot? Are they still plowing the road after the parking lot?

Rode it last night. snowtell is right, (26") we had snow over the hood and in the face all night. Stayed on the roads but did go in a couple of places that I know are safe.
One heck of a good first ride, I hope it keeps comming!

PICS!!????:face-icon-small-hap

The road is still open, we unloaded at curtis creek. however the search and sheriff thought that they may bring the snow cat to plow curtis creek to allow the deer hunters a way to get their equipment out. If they do that it would not be worth riding it.

A guy at work got a call from a friend late last night that was back in Arbs Basin. Stuck with his 5th wheel, truck and 4 wheeler. Others also.
I had a hunch that S&R/WCS would have to plow curtis creek road, SUCKS.

Web cam shows it plowed.

There is enough snow on I-84 in Morgan to ride if you want. HAHA I just drove through there before they closed the canyon. It is snowing like crazy in Morgan WOW. I am glad I am not a hunter right now that has pulled a trailer into the back country for hunting.

Yeah they are going to be screwed for a while. The roads may or may not melt to become passable again. At least for the 5th wheels.

BUT.....

Its not like we didn't have a fair warning!

Chains on all 4 of the truck and chains on the rear trailer tires to help it track behind. Momentum for the up hills and a just enough brake for the down hills. A set of 4 chains for 37x13.5 tires took up a lot of room in my tool box but I was always happy they were there when I needed them!!

How did you link that to keep updating?
More snow at the house in Eden and Monte is still at 30" with the little warm up yesterday.

it is a direct link the the webcams url, so it updates dynamically.

I clicked on the little picture of the mountain and it asked me for the URL where the picture is kept. So I just pasted the webcams URL there and got the results you are seeing. Lucky I guess.

get off the 12th street exit in ogden and continue on that road through ogden canyon. once you get out of the canyon you will stay on the road, going around pineview reservoir. you will pass a chevron, shortly after take a right on HWY 39. that road takes you to monte.

hope that helps.

Went snowshoeing yesterday and did some exploring, less to wreck than on a sled . Plenty of snow in the meadows and more in the trees, anywhere between 55 cm and 70 cm + in areas. Temperatures were still below freezing at 2 pm when I left the Monte Campground.
Getting warm this week but there is still a chance to get out and ride.
