Is anyone running a garrett 2871 on Tapex?

From what i remember of your sled, it had a bd turbo 2860 with a head shim. Im not to sure if the gains will be worth the upgrade,I would stick with what you got unless your getting the new turbo for a steel of a price,or you just need a new turbo because the one you got is pooched. The 2860 will still make good power up to 18 psi and i really dont think the gains will be huge from swapping. So imo i think you should spend your money on another mod like a track or skid ect..

I cooked the bearing in my 2860 which gave me a good excuse to step up to a 2871. Pulls harder up top for sure. Spoolup is still awesome (Alpine Kit) and in theory it should run cooler.

Go with the .64 exhaust side housing and you will get quicker spoolup and still maintain the benefits of the larger turbo.

Yep, i did the same to my 2860,just trying to deside if im going to fix it or get an 2871

How'd you cook your 2860? Not enough idle cool down? Or it was just time? I'm wondering so I don't do the same to my 2860!

Not enough oil,the line got pluged up with something and the first ride out it was gone! I check the oil line to see if oil was comming out,and it was,but never taken the fitting off the turbo to check it(used kit).
