Is anyone having trouble with broken drive chains with TSS kit?

Kind of a sick joke, but very much expected. Same as SX kits
Sold my kit and Bike , watching how this plays out. At least there is competition now , that will accelerate the rectification process.

At the risk of asking a stupid question...why is this not an issue with the wheel on?

On a wheeled bike you have the opposite situation due to the location of the sprocket in relation to the fulcrum of the lever (swingarm). On the snow bike the rear sprocket is located right next to the fulcrum, causing the rear sprocket to get closer to the countershaft sprocket upon compression. On rebound the chain tightens.

On a dirtbike the rear sprocket is at a point near the end of the lever, far from the fulcrum. In its static state, the swingarm sprocket is not at it's furthest point from the countershaft sprocket, which is why you must run slack. Once past this point the chain begins to loosen, but over a great distance it is minimal in terms of sag.

The big issue is the short length of chain on the TSS kit, the minimal distance, and the position of the sprocket in relation to the fulcrum. A spring operated tensioner sounds pretty necessary, along with some sort of slider or roller.
 
I think I am going to try the follwing:

1) 14 tooth Coutner Shaft Sprocket
2) Old Clutch Spring on to keep tension on the chain as TSS travels
3) Modify my swing arm chain slider to fit on the TS.

I have a 2008 KTM 530 EXCR and a 2016 LT with TSS.
 
Where can a person buy the TKS tensioner? They speak of having monster do some custom changes for them and I can't see one for a Timbersled on Monster's site.
 
I heard Yeti and CMX supplied the new chains to TS for a really good deal!


All dumb jokes aside... I hope this isn't as big an issue as it sounds like it might be.

I was possibly going to drill into my ts tubing to mount my chain slider. Might be best to wait and see what they come up with.

Any word on a time frame?

Timbersled mountain horse snowbikers on Facebook. Randy Siemens posted that a fix was in the works. This Facebook page is probably better to monitor than the snowest forum.

Please enlighten me on how TSS is causing chain to break if they get loose

The chain clearance just behind the countershaft on the underside of the swingarm pivot is very close, but it varies for different bikes. When the TSS compresses, the slack in the chain causes metal-on-metal contact between the chain and the frame. Some guys even think that the chain chosen by Timbersled for the 2016 kits may be prone to breaking because of this. Timbersled is working on a fix (we've heard) and should have an announcement any day. A lot of guys are working on their own homemade fixes, focusing either on at least installing a piece of plastic or PVC on the frame to act as a slider, or upgrading the chain tensioner with a spring, which should keep tension on the chain and keep it from slapping the frame.
 
TOMK do you have that tentioner on a 16 timbersled ?.16s don't have that same spot to mount it .
