Installing skinz airframes, bumper and tunnel extension on a 2008 Nytro MTX

I haven't found any pictures of others who have modified the 2008 Nytro 153 tunnel to fit the air frame boards, a tunnel extension to 162" and a 2010+ skinz rear bumper. So I figured I would post a few pictures of what I am trying to accomplish. Of course skinz is now making an 08 Nytro bumper which is shorter but I had ordered this one a long time ago and after months of waiting it finally arrived.

The 2010 bumper is longer than it needs to be. It would probably work ok with a 174 tunnel but it's going to interfere with the rear mounting of the air frames. I'm debating on either cutting it shorter or just modifying it so that the air frame rear bracket can fit flush with the tunnel.

Here are a few test fit pictures. I am still waiting on my Hartman tunnel extension before I can start hacking things up.

I have the new style tunnel with a 162 and the rear bumper is not too long. There is about and inch of space in between the bumper and the air frames. You will love this. I can't believe how awesome they are, and I haven't even ridden it yet.

I've sort of got the boards where they will sit but if you look at my last pic you will see how far out the back the bumper will have to extend to miss the boards. That's way more than adding 4.5 inches more tunnel to switch from 153 to 162. Not sure what's different with the newer year boards vs the older ones but to me it seems like my bumper will be too long.

I'm so happy to be finally getting rid of those long boards. I can't even recall how many times I've washed out carving with those boards.

Do you have any pics? Would you be able to take a couple measurements for me next time you are in the garage?

Here's a picture of an '08 with a 153" track. Skinz simply cut the '10 rear bumper down to fit the '08. The big difference between years in the boards is the angle.

This is the new 08-09 bumper, hardest part is the strength. I think i will add some brackets on the inside of the tunnel from the senter of the bumper to the drop bracket. Think it will help alot !? But is feels just as strong as the 2010 mtx tunnel as it is.

Thanks tracks2treadz . I see you added a bit longer extension to the tunnel. What was the reason for that if you were staying at 153? That bumper looks quite a bit shorter than mine.

I would think that If I'm extending my 153 tunnel to 162 that I wouldnt need to cut down the 2010 bumper, but to me it looks like I'd need 9 or so inches of extra tunnel length or it will hit that back board bracket. I'll have to wait to see how things line up once my extension is here.

Thanks Ntm_08. It looks like you did what I was thinking I would need to do. And that is to mount the airframe rear bracket on top of the bumper. It may even add some more strength doing it that way.

Give Scott at OFT a call. He has the shorter bumpers. Maybe you can work something out with him. He also had a couple of the tunnel extensions that came with the bumpers.

I actually have only about a half an inch in between the bumper and the running board. If you measure at the middle of the bumper back to the flat part of the tunnel it is exactly six inches to the back of the bumper. At the back of the tunnel extension it drops down and there is a taper that matches it perfectly on the bumper and I lined these two tapers up with each other.

Just to clean up the rear end. The bumper has been shortened up quite a bit to fit the sled our case.
