Hey guys hoping someone can help me out. Installing a new helix but can't remember what I had to do last time to get it to seat and sit flush against the sheave. It's just not seating the last 1/4".

Anyone able to enlighten me?

You can turn the roller that sit's in your helix ( the one you compressed and attached with the snap ring).
Sometimes you have to turn it so slightly to get it to sit all the way in the helix and to sit flush on the secondary face.

We will assume all the points are lined up correctly and then a light tap with a fire wood splitting maul will usually get the job done. Or you might try a small plastic tap hammer. I use the small hammer however I have been temped to go the other route a few times. They sometimes go in and the screw hole do not line up. Again a light tap in the right direction should line things back up where they go.

BFH? Or the velvet hammer. :)
Its the story of life/test of patience.

There is an easier way to do this. If you grasp the outside edge of both sheaves and squeeze them together, while just using light hand pressure on the helix it will drop right in when you find the sweet spot. You just need to work your way around the clutch with your "hand clamp". You will actually feel the sweet spot because the clutch will rock a tiny bit. That movement is what lines up the helix bore so it can drop in. Try it, it works simple and easy. Cheers.
