Looking to fly down to Utah in a couple weeks to pick my new truck up. Just wondering if any of you have any info or secrets on booking dirt cheap 1 way flights for my wife and I to fly down to pick the truck up. would be flying outta Calgary or Great Falls to Salt Lake City. Thanx

not really any such thing as dirt cheap flights any more....I guess it depends on what you consider dirt cheap

I used miles to purchase a roundtrip when I picked up a suburban in texas.., when I got there and the deal looked good, i tore up the return flight and drove home.

about the only dirt cheap flights are through the casino airlines like alegant air, but you would have to be heading to vegas, or Southwest has decent prices, but I dont think they fly out of great falls and not sure about calgary.

Noob:

I think I may still have on account a round trip Calgary to Spokane on SW you can have. I booked Lori from Zac's Tracs to fly down, but she ended up driving. I think it was $50 or 75 to switch names and you can trade destinations if seats are aavailable. Maybe give Lori a call, I can't remember the details.

I'm swamped with work right now, but if it might work for ya I will have my wife set it up. Have a good one. EW

"IF" you are going to Salt Lake look for a flight to Vegas that has a stop over in Salt Lake then just get off there. Buisness's in Vegas subsidise flights so you can get cheap ones that way.

That used to happen a lot of places throughout the US. I think some airlines have become aware of that and there has been cases of them tracking people down and having them pay the difference if there was some, or maybe just black listing you?

It's funny how going to vegas and getting off in Salt Lake would be cheaper then simply flying to SLC in the first place. Then we wonder why the airlines can't make heads or tails out of anything.

I read something a while back, and it said that it is highly likely that no two people on any flight paid the same fare. It makes absolutely no sense, and I'm pretty sure if you pull the book a flight to vegas and get off in SLC, they will nail you with a charge.... they even have some fancy name for it I can't think of right now...

good luck though

would like to thank Eric for coming through for me. I paid for the flight for my wife, and the gal said I would get the same price as the first ticket. she came back and was 700 dollars higher, and I called her on it. she came back 10 minutes later apologizing for putting me on hold and said that the ticket that was a 1000 bucks is now 390 dollars.lol go figure. I even asked her point blank about a flight to vegas and I would just get off, and she said that they would charge me for it(have credit card on file for taxes) if i were to do that. so needless to say, I thank all of you for your advice, and my wife and I are headed down next thursday to pick up some new wheels to pull these heavy yamaha's around.
