Info on Vail Pass.

Hey guys, we're going up to Vail Pass on Sunday morning. Neither my buddy or I have ever been riding there before. I've heard rumors that you have to pay right? Any and all info on this area would be most appreciated.

Thanks, Garet.

$6 I think? Right as you get into the parking lot. Sometimes rangers are there with maps. If not, be careful of the trails through the skier only areas. It's well marked. You can probably just follow the tracks. Be careful in shrine bowl this time of year. Wouldn't be surprised at all if it slid. The South -Eastern most areas you can get to from the main area have some really fun stuff.

Thanks for the input guys. We're not looking to go crazy. Just hoping to get out long enough to shake out some of the cobwebs from summer and break in the new machine a little. I've been reading all over that the avy danger is high right now. I like wearing the beacon and having the gear but lets all hope we never have to use them.

it's more like $60 for the season pass, but yeah.

$6 per person.

Wear a beacon, ride safe, have fun, etc. Might even see me up there.

I'm not sure if we're going to make it this weekend now. If we go at all it will most likely be at Grand Lake. Just to hit the roads and break in the new machine. Might wait until the base is a little better before we hit Vail. Also want to avoid the damned skier trafic, you know how it goes. Sounds like a pretty kick azs place to ride though. If we do end up going maybe one of you nice fellers can lead us around and give us a little intro to the terrain. Last year we only rode at Grand Lake due to the fact that my buddies cabin is about a two minute ride from the trailhead (Nice in the evening when all you have to do is walk off of your sled right into the nice warm house). We know Grand Lake like the back of our hands but this year we're hoping to get out there to a lot more places and see what they've got to offer. This bowl sounds intriguing.

Actually an annual pass is $40.00. Bought mine on tuesday.
Dragon is correctamundo, the annual pass is $40.

There's lots of trails for good break-in. The many meadows offer some easy off trail fun and they should all be filled in after this week. We checked out the bowl last weekend from the bottom, there's still many rocks showing, just wait a few more weeks for the snow to slide and settle and fill in some more before pulling the trigger.
As they have chit for signage or grooming right now, just stick to the roads and you can find your way easily. Keep heading west to Red Cliff and stop by Mango's for a brew.
Have some fun, the season is finally here!

Dear Ms Morgan. eihter you need a new avata or change that name caz Bruse is way to sexy for such a girly name. and we going riding in the southwest with AT next weekend!!

You're just jealous cause my truck is red and yours is gray and girls actually notice mine. Had a couple of high school girls yell whoo hoo to us tonight lol. Better paint your rig blue.

I was at the pass yesterday again and it is getting really good! Lots of meadows filled in - there are some hidden treasures as my shoulder will attest to after getting yanked out by a hidden telephone pole. When I was there Monday the trail to ptarmigan hadn't been groomed and it was hard to get in, but now they've done a lot of work to plow the lot and put up signage. Be careful in there - a large slab came down off the peak and there was a large fracture line that extended along the ridge.. We took some turns on the south side without issues but a lot of the angled terrain looks dangerous -
